Breakfast suggestions

I've been trying to think of something to spread on toast for breakfast, preferably savoury. I don't like marmite and I'm tired of peanut butter. Any suggestions?

My breakfast is a large bowl of Greek yoghurt.
Topped with mixed seeds, ground flaxseeds, raspberries, fresh blueberries, maybe some chia seeds and drizzled with lots of runny honey.

It’s surprising filling and I’m never hungry at lunchtime either, so I tend to skip lunch now.

I also love humus, particularly with tomatoes. Hoping for a good crop of tomatoes this year, I planted mine this morning. My basil and rocket are already doing well on my kitchen window sill in preparation!
But for breakfast I have some kind of egg every day, ususally poached.

What I’d really like to know is what bread makes good enough toast to spread anything on. I try to steer clear of white bread and am not fond of sourdough.

My absolute favourite is plain old marmalade! Failing that I'm rather partial to lots of butter and then avocado on top.

Another plus for smoked mackerel pate. Or skippers (tiny sardines), plain or in tomato sauce. Occasionally scrambled egg. Hate breakfast. Generally just a banana.

I can't have toast or anything crunchy . On blood thinners and get blood blisters in my mouth if I do . So since 2021 been havjng porridge every morning made with oat milk no matter how hot. Only time I don't is when on holiday and have yogurt, cold crossiants and pain au chocolat my naughty treats 😋

Smashed avocado, topped with a poached egg or crumbled feta cheese (or both) finished with a drizzle of chili oil.

Labneh, toasted nuts, chopped mint and a drizzle of honey or pomegranate molasses.

Just a coffee when I wake up about 9 - toast or whatever , later, for brunch at about 12-12.30

Rarely varies.
Frozen blueberries, a spoonful of oats, a spoonful of mixed seeds with chia seeds, a dollop of Greek yoghurt and sprinkle of cinnamon.

OH has porridge, if there's any left, I have it, but I usually have toast with banana, I don't like a fried breakfast.

I like the pots of sandwich filllers, from the chiller cabinet , egg & bacon is my fave, but loads of choice, they have a good shelf life and surprisingly low fat a little spread on toast is lovely in the morning.

Does it have to be toast? I reckon you can't beat good ham or lovely cheese or garlic sausage on fresh crusty bread.

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-26 12:11:55

I love toast.
My daughter said that as a child, she could always remember the sound of the grill pan sliding out, once she'd gone to bed blush

MissAdventure Tue 26-May-26 12:05:41

Marmite, strong spreadable cheese.

Spinnaker Tue 26-May-26 12:00:06

Can't beat a good quality potted beef - preferably made by your local butcher 😋

I often go through my fridge to have a ‘use up’ and often as not whatever it is gets spread on toast and eaten at any time of the day, including breakfast.

Favourites are:
Hummus.
Taramasalata.
Egg mayonnaise.
Anything cheesy
Anything spicy.

Sometimes I think I’m just a human dustbin but toast is the great love of my life! 😂

Go continental and have cheese, ham or any kind of tinned fish?

Oreo Tue 26-May-26 11:53:11

Baked beans? Scrambled egg?

Aldom Tue 26-May-26 11:52:28
