Flights no fuel!

I think you can only claim for accommodation if it was included in a package with your flight tanith.

I would say your Travel Insurance. I don’t think the airline is responsible for lack of fuel.

Good luck with travel insurance, we were caught up last September in a dreadful situation at Stansted, the airport was evacuated so we missed our flight.

Despite expensive insurance we didn’t get a penny back.

Oh my doesnt sound hopeful, it wasn't a package and the hotel was really expensive too. Oh well it is what it is fingers crossed as it was a special trip with both my daughters to spend time with my son and family and wil be very sad not to go.

Maybe contact your insurance provider (in writing) tanith and get an answer from them direct in this eventuality?

Ideally, if someone came up with an insurance policy designed to insure against all the caveats in the small print of policies they'd make a fortune overnight!

Europe has around 6 weeks of jet fuel left so I think this will affect a lot of people who have booked holidays this summer.

I was able to get my flight money and my Air BnB share repaid when I couldn't go due to my brother dying. I should imagine if you can't go because of the fuel, you should be able to get your accommodation paid for.

Airlines might not be responsible for lack of fuel but I'll be damned if I don't get my money back if we can't go...

Further to my comment I have googled and as it's a package holiday the airline is responsible if it's through lack of fuel,they should offer full refund or alternative holiday,not obliged to compensate any extra..

Quite worried for my daughter as she's flight to Germany in a few weeks and Tenerife later in the summer. Both for weddings so maybe weddings cancelled if no flights

…. Bear in mind, it’s not just fuel ex-UK. Most flights unless very short, refuel again at the destination. It IS possible to carry extra fuel for the return on shorter flights, but this obviously adds to the cost of the flight in terms of weight, fuel price, etc. So it will also depend on the country/destination also supplying the fuel for the way back…..

Travel insurance very unlikely to pay out for your accommodation....this is why I always do booking.com and pay the day before with free cancellation up until then...not always possible tho perhaps in your case...sure you will go tho....they will pull all the random flights first that don't fill first ....I'm going carcassonne in June...thats never a full flight....but when I go Spain in July I know that will be a full flight

There was an article about this in The Times a couple of weeks ago. Basically you can only get a refund if you booked a package through an ABTA travel company, Your insurance might cover the hotel. I think it depends on your policy. Tbh it’s why we always try to book through a company. We were once stranded in Gran Canaria for 5 days but Tui put us in a hotel and paid all the bills.

Correct, though IF insurance purchased beforehand, then 'Act of God' wouldn't apply.
