Why is Labour so slow in publishing the new rules regarding Women’s Rights?

What is even more unspeakably cruel in my opinion Galaxy is telling children they can change their sex when anybody with more than one brain cell knows it's impossible. A little boy that likes to dress up in a tutu and fairy wand is still a little boy, just one who has imagination and enjoys pretend in a non stereotypical way.

Who told children that they could change their sex, Rosie?

I think children children should be made aware of normal gendered behaviour. This awareness would not be the same as not allowing children to express their feelings or play roles.

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 13:01:26

I don’t know of anyone telling children they can change “sex”

However, we have had children and adults for decades and decades, rightly or wrongly, believing that their minds and biological sex don’t “match” ie born male or female who genuinely feel inside they are “different” to their biological sex.

ViceVersa Thu 16-Apr-26 13:06:15

Oh, believe me there are definitely people out there telling children they can change sex - and pushing that agenda wherever they can!

This was the conclusion made into the enquiry about the clinic which annoyingly I can't remember the name of, and why it was shut down.

I am lucky in that I was born female and have always identified as being so.

I can't therefore feel I can speak with much authority on trans issues, only on the ones that affect me as a woman.

Amongst the trans community I would sense the majority just want to get on living their lives, whilst as in any group of people, there will be activists who will want to push their agenda further than might be considered reasonable by many women. I have come across both types in my time as a Labour activist.

I don't have strong feelings on this, except when I feel the issue is brought to my own door.

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 14:39:43

I know two trans people, one male to female, the other female to male, both waited decades to take hormones, having been told they have to live their lives (and evidence it) for years as the opposite sex to their biological sex, and have regular counselling before their actual “treatment” to begin.

I don’t pretend to understand it but they are both good people who are now much happier in their day to day lives and have no regrets.

I’m aware this is not the case with everyone.

I don’t think any child should even be allowed to start the counselling part of this until they are over 18, though I’m aware of an autistic child (female) who is 15 and adamant she’s identifying as “he”, has chosen a new neutral name and dresses as a boy.

As they are still going through puberty the parents won’t even consider taking them to see any kind of clinic etc., but they have gone along with this as it upset said child so much I guess at this time it is a “safer” option.

Personally, I don’t know what I’d do, I’m just glad all I had to deal with were two daughters who are gay, one who came out at 14.

These are very good and very supporting parents, whom themselves have good, supportive parents and the grandmother is amazing with all her grandchildren, but in particular this child.

Who? If you don’t mind me asking? My daughter is a primary school teacher, in their school they deal with any children voicing preferences, very sensitively and in accord with parents wishes.

No one in their school staff wise would raise these issues unless presented with them by a child and they most certainly do not encourage it.

Google Dr Helen Webberley for one...

Thank you ViceVersa

keepingquiet Thu 16-Apr-26 15:37:30

Wish I could remember the name of that clinic- maybe this Doctor worked there. There was an excellent podcast about it maybe a year ago?

Cossy I don't think I would include primary school teachers in this- maybe some secondary teachers and social workers as I have had direct experience of this.

Galaxy Thu 16-Apr-26 15:38:50

Tavistock.

keepingquiet Thu 16-Apr-26 15:41:15

Thanks- Tavistock. Now totally discredited I believe.

Galaxy Thu 16-Apr-26 15:51:04

Yes, webberley wasn't at tavistock, GP then disbarred by nhs and now private practice. I can't really say what I think about webberley as I don't have words strong enough.

keepingquiet Thu 16-Apr-26 15:52:25

Thanks for explaining. I tend to agree with you.

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 15:54:38

Thanks- Tavistock. Now totally discredited I believe.

Not totally, as it has closed down (according to BBC News and other online sources) due to concerns raised by both patients and at least one member of staff.

But it seems at two hubs have been opened to deals with Gender Disorders for those under 18 in two different parts of the country.

I’m about to look her up, but I’m already shocked that someone who has been both discredited and barred by the NHS is allowed to practice privately in this country? Surely this is wrong?

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 15:58:24

Oh I see she appealed and won 😱😱

Galaxy Thu 16-Apr-26 16:02:57

I think she is practising from abroad?
It is quite complex, she was suspended, then suspension overturned. Then I think her husband was suspended, then I think they finally revoked her licence because she hadnt practised? or she resigned. So sorry disbarred is probably the wrong word.

No you were right, she was originally disbarred then appealed and won but then she decided not to renew her annual registration then after a couple of years her licence was revoked.

The main case which ended her up in court sounds horrendous! Puberty blockers (which I don’t agree with using for trans reasons) at 16 then all sorts of other stuff, then one very very unhappy patient.

I consider myself fairly open minded and I have no issue with trans adults, BUT other than counselling and perhaps other GP led processes to check mental health and other conditions are/are not present I don’t believe anything should happen for anyone under 18, and I’d like to see that age raised to 21 with support in place for said young people.

Cossy Thu 16-Apr-26 16:31:48

Mr Google seems to think her and her husband have now moved abroad!

Galaxy Thu 16-Apr-26 16:33:42

I got sucked down a rabbit hole when I looked it up, you would think if you had both been suspended, etc it might cause a moments reflection.

Rosie51 Thu 16-Apr-26 21:33:05

This is Webberley's X post from two days ago.

Honestly, what a disgusting photo. Can you imagine being associated with that 🤢🤢

She doesn't agree with single sex in sport or safe places. Says transwomen having gone through male puberty doesn't give an advantage because some athletes will always be bigger and stronger than others and 'inclusion' is paramount. Doesn't even wonder why transmen don't feature in the men's events. Of course she needs to keep the gravy train going. She and her husband own and run GenderGP out of Singapore and are raking it in. Just take a look at their pricing list, it scrolls down and down and the costs really mount up. Her 'love' of transgender people is prompted by ££££.

Bridey in my opinion absolutely nothing! The comment is a direct quote from Dr Helen Webberley who thinks it's disgusting. That was her comment alongside the photo. She can't stand anyone who acknowledges that sex is binary and immutable.

Indeed, but she’s completely convinced she’s right and I think they’re both pretty disgusting and charlatans

My mistake Rosie, i thought you found the photo disgusting,
