Foundation for older skin

Ive recently changed to Elf foundation with a satin finish and Im very happy with it. You can buy in Boots.

I use L’Oréal BB tinted cream (fair) for me. It’s light, and natural - highly recommend :
Primark day moisturiser
BB cream
A bit of blush on the cheek bones
No claggy feeling
And hey ho done!

I’m a convert to Laura Geller powder foundation. I fund coverage is good and it really doesn’t settle into wrinkles x

I can’t understand how anyone can buy any foundation on line for the first time. Even trying it on your hand doesn’t work. To get the correct shade you have (IMO) got to try on your face.

Well, I have usually bought Clarins, this is a new lighter one and the number shade should have been the same but is lighter. Perhaps ok for the winter.

How can you try it on your face without going to a large Department store or a large Boots in a city? Ours has a very limited range.

On recommendation I bought the Estee Lauder daywear but once again it didn’t suit me, it came up a shade darker than I like.
However my GD loved it, it suits her colouring and her skin and I have been buying it for her for Birthdays and Christmas for about 4 years now.
I look out for offers as, when I first bought it, it was about £30 now I think it is around £50.

A bit of rouge makes me look less pasty

I can get to a small Boots but sadly on two occasions I have been sold a shade which seemed ok in store but not right when I got it home. These have both been Boots No7 range but different products.
I have been tempted by the Jones Road range but it is too expensive for a mistake.

I ordered Clarins Skin Illusion from Boots and like the texture, it's light but covers well.

However, the shade is far lighter than it looked online and I might have to order a darker one and mix the two together. It's not cheap!

Another fan of Jones Road, it’s available from Liberty’s (London) and online.

Estee Lauder Daywear Plus and Daywear Plus CC are excellent. Both come out of the tube a grey colour then adjust to your skin tone, no need for colour matching, nor the need to change products from summer to winter if you have caught the sun.

I’m using Jones Road beauty balm currently. Nice to hear good things about their foundation - might try that in the NY!

I have tried Trinnys but I couldn’t find the right colour.

I get Trinny's adverts on my feed. Never tried her range but would be interested to know if anyone else has? While we are sharing primers, I use Flawless original by Barry M, lovely texture and smell. I might try Bobbi Brown moisturiser as that sounds gorgeous 😍

I find Boots no 7 and Max factor foundations very good. Have tried lots of others & always revert to these !

I’m another advocate for Jones Road (Bobbi Browns new range and label). Her tinted moisturiser is fine for every day and her slightly more covering foundation has the same texture that Bobbi Brown used to do in her tinted moisturiser. They both give a very flattering dewy finish.
I buy it from Liberty’s or online.

Why net get yourself off to B***s where you’ll find cosmetic advisors. The team at my local branch are fabulous and don’t give you the hard sell either.

I have worn makeup since I was 17 and am now 79. I tried Il Makiage which was very expensive and not as good as it is made out to be.

I use CC cream by I’Oreal in Light which I put on after Look Fabulous Forever Primer. A bit of rouge makes me look less pasty. Then some concealer under my eyes and on any moles. I make sure to do my eyebrows, some smoky eyeshadow and brown mascara, a dusting of face powder and lipstick. I can do all that in about 10 minutes.

I don’t think I look like mutton dressed up as lamb. 😉

Sue has the right idea, tinted moisturiser with SPF, then dot on little bits of concealer where needed, around nose etc. Foundation only looks good with very well hydrated skin and a good primer so it goes on smoothly. Having said that, I quite like just primer then dabs of tinted powder and a bit of blusher. I think you have to allow your natural colour to show through a little. There is a trend for bare faces now and it suits most people.

I am not sure if you can get it in the UK, but I just purchased Jones Road What the Foundation. It is light coverage and has some oils in it for dehydrated aging skin. I have used her Miracle Balms in the past and I love them. This foundation is not good for oily skin though.

I do really like this, but I do need a bit more coverage at times. I was going to try the Il Makiage, but it has such mixed reviews online and it is pricey.

Ive tried IL MAKIAGE foundation and I am 70 years old. My skin is still quite good. The foundation isn't as good as it appears in their Instagram ads. I would not buy it again. It can be a bit heavy and chalky. A lighter cc cream suits my skin far better.

I recently needed new foundation. The sales woman persuaded me to use a tinted primer/moisturiser and then a concealer/brightener on any areas that needed more coverage. It looks really good, I’m very pleased with it.

I’d suggest cc cream, looks much better than foundation. Then a dab of rouge for a bit of a glow.
