EBay email. What does it mean?

The buyers will see the price plus the fee before they pay, I think.

EBay must be going to deduct this fee before the seller gets paid out I think? Therefore it’s a fee to sell- which is how it used to be. Or am I wrong?

I m puzzled because they ve only very recently removed fees for selling !

I had the email too. They are calling it Buyer Protection fee, on things from private sellers, 4% of item price plus 75p will be included in the item price that you see. So if something has a price of £20 it includes a £1.49 fee. Supposedly means you can get problems sorted 24/7 and sellers won't receive funds until goods delivered.
An example price they give - Seller prices something at £20 and then added on to that will be Buyer Protection fee @ 4% variable- 80p plus another 75p flat BP fee. So in total your £20 valued purchase will actually cost you £21.55 (which will be the listing price you will see) plus any pp.
I simply read it as buyers will be paying a fee to Ebay now instead of sellers.

I don't use Ebay any more, haven't for ages, but this would put me off. I must admit I did wonder how they were going to be making money when they said they would be no selling fees, this must be how. Give with one hand and take with the other!

The Vinted platform is much easier than eBay & posting is much less hassle, but they've always had a buyer protection fee.
Maybe there are more issues these days with things not arriving etc so sites need to do this to sort out complaints / refunds etc more quickly?

jusnoneed I thought the same. It definitely means the end of selling low-priced items as the buyers will not want to pay the extra. I don't think they know what they're doing. It was straightforward back in the day.
