Commemorative coins

I suppose a coin dealer.

I don’t think banks exchange them nowadays, assuming you can find a bank.

I acquired several of these after my father died and ended up selling them on eBay - for not much money. If you search for the ones you own on eBay you will see how much money they are making

A specialist coin dealer would be your best bet- first to get a valuation. Or if you can find a numismatic society a member might help with valuation and advice. Problem with Ebay is you only see the price people are looking for, not what they actually get. Some may have increased significantly in value but others not.

My father had a huge collection of coins and medals which he left to me. They were initially valued by a coin dealer to whom I sold some. Ebay might give you a rough idea of value but if lots of people are trying to sell the same commemorative coin, it's probably not worth much! Rarity is what makes it valuable.

I collected these for years and gave them to my grandson when he was eighteen. I think he liked them, he said he did anyway.
I must remember to ask him what he did with them.

Auction houses have specialist auctions of coins from time to time. If it’s a large collection, they’ll give you a valuation and tell you what they’re likely to fetch especially if they are in mint condition. I doubt it will be a huge amount though. Or if you have a local auction house with an online site, you could look at past auctions to see what past auction lots have fetched.

Many thanks for all your advice etc. None of my GC are remotely interested so I am off to a reasonably local coin dealer; any cash I get is to be split between the GC.
