Winter fuel payment

Hi Zasaret Thank you for your response. Yes, I've received a letter which I've dug out and you're right - it says if I've not received the money into my a/c by 13th January, to ring the number they've given me.

Sparkle fizz - have you received a letter? Mine was some weeks back but I was told payment might be January!
Oopsadaisy - you are right that 66 is the current state pension age, but you need to be 66 by late September. Madwoman11 should indeed get hers next year, although the increased rate is only for this winter.
Another strange thing, which many of you will be aware of, is that the payment is per household. If only one half of a couple is of pension age, they get the full amount, £500 this year, the same as a single person. When their spouse reaches pension age, they get half, £250, each.

You have to be 66 to get your State Pension so would have to be born before 1956?

Or have I got that totally wrong?

I still haven't received mine which usually arrives in November. Anyone else?

There is always a cut off point and for some reason it is September so you needed to be entitled to the state pension in September 2022 to qualify. Anyone born after September 1956 therefore does not qualify this year, which is galling given the increased amount for anyone who just misses out. Sorry. I’m not aware of anything for those who received their state pension after that date.
