90th birthday!

A bowl of spring bulbs to brighten the next few weeks?

A food hamper from somewhere nice? A voucher for afternoon tea to be delivered to her house. A newspaper from the day she was born

Hi. It’s very difficult unless you know her quite well, or someone that does. My mum just turned 90 and asked everyone not to brings gifts , but make a small donation to a charity close to her heart.
She wouldn’t have liked hampers or food of any kind as she has a small appetite, and it would have been wasted.
The one gift she received and loved was an album made up of all our family she loves it. Hope she has a wonderful time.

As a person gets older they dont look for gifts and as long as those who have been invited turn up for the birthday bash, probably with a nice card and as suggested earlier a few bulbs for the garden, providing the elderly person can still get about to do gardening or if is of interest to them.

Might be a good idea to find out if the lady has any hobbies that may give some ideas.

Perhaps an invite to the home of those attending would be appreciated and mean more to them than the guest spending a lot of money out for things that would most likely be put in a drawer and forgotten about.

I will be 92 this year and if I am still around I would love one of the birthday books as shown from my family.

When my son was 70 I sent for one of these and it really is very interesting to look back over the years of headlines each year plus other news from the front page of old newspapers of the day one was born and a lovely keepsake even if it is handed down to the family.

She has health problems-vertigo-so can’t get out easily. I asked her daughter and she said no munchies or drinks but. . .as we know she loves her garden.
So we bought a bowl of hyacinth bulbs just about to open!
Sadly DH and I can’t now go to her open house cos we’re both streaming with a (negative) head cold ?
