Not giving baby a blanket or quilt to sleep under

My only grandchild is put to bed every night without any bedcovers. She sleeps in jogging type pyjamas. No blanket no quilt. She often wakes and is slow to settle down. This is all my daughter in laws idea, My son does loads of child care but never disagrees with his wife’s way of doing things. Grandchild is 20 months and this started at birth.
I have made no comment because my daughter in law gets the hump and stops communicating if she does not like something anyone says not just me. Even her own mother and sisters get the silent treatment. What do you all think?

Grobags have been on the scene a very long time. My German penfriend gave us one her son, now 38, had outgrown for our wriggly little boy - now 35 - who kept kicking his covers off. My friends were really envious but at the time you couldn't buy them over here so I made a pattern & had quite a production line. Now that wriggly little boy has two sons of his own, both slept in grobags as little ones. Much more sensible than duvets or sheets & blankets.

Yes our DIL has been using these sleeping bag type quilt covers for both our DGC since birth. They are obviously much safer as they can't go over the child's head and so risk suffocation. Also they regulate the child's temperature, preventing covers getting thrown off, so the child doesn't get cold.
Modern parents are doing what they feel is right for their children and in most cases it's best to let them get on with it. The old idiom " Mum knows best", still applies.
