Private medical MOT - comprehensive Health Check

My mother was able to have one of these at a younger age (I think early 50s) through health insurance she had provided at work. It discovered a skin cancer she had growing on her back. As she is now in her 80s, they obviously treated it successfully! Wouldn't have been found without that check up.

It would be a good idea, assuming that you have the private cover to pay for anything discovered, as you won't currently get much in the way of treatment on the NHS, the state it is in. Otherwise you might find something and be unable to get it sorted, which would be an extra worry.

Also bear in mind that not all conditions discovered need immediate treatment, and a discussion with your GP about the results would be sensible.

You can get a blood test MOT free on the NHS. Talk to your GP.

Hmmm not sure. A friend always did this. Despite this annual MOT he's now very ill after a catastrophic series of mini strokes, heart valve replacement and now leukaemia. Nothing significant was ever picked up on his annual physical assessment.

The medical lasts an hour with the doctor. I do have private medical cover, but this may well be finishing soon.
I’ve decided to go with it as any problems can be, hopefully, be referred.
