Ripon, have any of you stayed in the City or do you live there now?

I’m not a million miles from Ripon! I think you are correct that it is very well placed if you have a car. Fountains abbey etc all nearby. Dales and moors accessible. Shops in Ripon aren’t as interesting as they once were, but there’s always York harrogate ilkley and lovely hebden bridge.
Do have breakfast or lunch at Olivers pantry when you’re in Ripon !

Ripon is a lovely town for its position as you say. We have stayed in the area many times you can quickly get to the Dales which we love (and used to live there) but you have the advantage of a small town and all its facilities.

We are looking to buy a second home, we would be letting as a holiday home and using it ourselves and possibly retiring there in the next 10 years.
We have viewed a number of properties in Ripon and think it would be a great place to be.
It’s really well placed for the Yorkshire moors and Dales, Harrogate, Thirsk and York.
Have any of you experience of Ripon?
Would it be a holiday destination that would appeal to you?
