Funerals in England

It us truly awful, not having the comfort of friends and family around when you have lost some one you have loved so much. My heart goes out to those in that situation.

Exd we were unable to go to MILs funeral in May, nobody went as all the family members were shielding.that’s a disadvantage of a very elderly parent and elderly Adult Children!

Yes the accommodation is still available and the owners are OK about it, saying its not a holiday booking, just 2 nights for a funeral.
Obviously daughter and her DH would have been staying with us normally, but this arrangement was made when we could see which way the wind blew - we just didn't realise it would be such a 'total' lockdown.
I now appreciate how utterly devastating it must have been for bereaved people back in March when some funerals took place with no family there at all!

I would think that as very close family it is allowed, just check that the room is still available.

My Son in Law's mother has died and her funeral is to take place in nine day's time.
He and my daughter live 270 miles away and had arranged to stay in a near-by self catering holiday home overnight.
We have read the Govt guidelines and its not clear whether new rules allow this.
I can see 30 people are still allowed to attend the service, but will my daughter and her husband be able to stay over? They surely can't be expected to drive all that way twice in one day?
Can they?
