I suppose if they were given a UK appointment that would be different though. For example, I don't know if it would apply if he were to be made Governor General or work from an Embassy.

As it is 6months here (we pay?) 6 months Canada (Queen/Prince Charles/Duch of Cornwall pay. which ultimately means us again) theyre not going to turn their backs on that arrangement.

I asked on a previous thread whether they were actually allowed to leave Britain and live wherever they wish. Don't immigration laws apply to the royals? No-one answered me.

They could only stay for 6 months I think as visitors. Maybe that's why they said they intended to split their year?

I read a comment yesterday from a Canadian taxpayer who called them illegal refugees, stating that Canadians do not want to have to fund their security etc. I'm sure there will be lots of discussion about that on both sides of the Atlantic.
