Foldable stick chair

I have tried the shooting stick kind. Hard to balance and hard on the bum! Have now bought a folding one with a sling seat from Amazon which is brilliant. Light to carry, when folded the right height to use as a walking stick and a doddle to open and shut. On our recent outing it was much envied by several! It cost 17.99 and there was a choice of three sizes so I measured the seat height of my favourite chair to get it right. Sorry my technical ability does not extend to sending a link.

My seat is the solid type, SIL and BIL have had similar ones which they used regularly for some years and as she was so pleased with hers I decided to treat myself.

They are light to carry but fine to sit on and seem to be up to carrying a good weight.

jackyB, I can see what you are thinking, very painful, but I meant back to front, not upside down. I'm talking about the solid seat type, not ones with a canvas seat. No pointed bit in these, they are tripod type legs.

shooting sticks-i remember seeing pics of lackeys carrying chairs/seats for shooters(target) long ago.
dear mil had a walking stick that opened into a seat she loved it.her ms got bad in the last years and she was still a volunteer teacher15 yrs after retirement and needed a little help.

I have always known them as "shooting sticks", too, although I didn't know why they were called that. I was worried about "best used the other way round" as I was imagining the pointy bit sticking upwards.....

Hilltop if you’re still reading, which of the NT ones did you get? I think they sell two kinds: one has a round, solid seat, the other a straight, canvas type one . Both feel very light when I’ve picked them up but I haven’t been able to decide which is the better one. They are quite pricey, too.

Often called 'Shooting sticks' because someone could sit on it to steady their gun when out shooting.

I have a very good one I bought for the same reason, the National Trust sell them and mine is a good robust quality.

I did have a three-legged stool that folded up to a walking stick handle. But where it is now, I can't imagine. May have to get another - Amazon I think.

We use walking stick seats when we go to shows and sometimes spend the whole evening sitting on them. They are great, but best used the wrong way round, so the handle is at the front when you sit down. It's more comfortable and secure that way.

I bought a three legged folding seat from Poundland (for £1) and it is FAB!

I bought my mum a shopping trolley that had a fold down seat. It was sturdy, had a back on it and Mum could sit at the bus stop while she was waiting for the bus. She could also carry her shopping easily and rest when she wanted. I imagine a stick chair would be unstable, I wouldn't have trusted Mum with one but I guess other GNs will let you know their experiences.
