Can't sleep

It will fade into not being noticeable after a while When I lived in the Far East I thought I d never sleep again with the noise of the tree beetles at night it was so loud after a few weeks I never heard them at all

Yes, you will get used to it. When I moved to my present home, its very near a very busy dual carriageway and I thought I'd never get used to it. After a while, I only noticed if I woke through the night, how quiet it goes.

One night you'll be fast asleep and then wake up and realise... the traffic has stopped and all is quiet. In other words, as other posters have said, you'll get used to it. That's what happened to me anyway when I moved into a flat on a busy road

We have the main London-Bristol railway behind us. When we first moved in there were two very noisy gravel trains went through every night.

The first week I snapped awake as the trains went through, The second week, I groaned and turned over. The third week I incorporated the noise into my dreams. The fourth week.....zzzzzzzzz

I used to live near a roundabout on the eastern bypass in Oxford. When I moved to a quieter area I couldn't sleep for a while. Try to relax, read a book but not an e-book, listen to music, traffic noise will fade.

We also moved from a quiet cul de sac to an apartment near a busy road across from the tube station. At first I noticed the cars and the trains but now I don't notice them.
I love being able to just cross the road and pop to the local shops or jump on the tube into town.

Your brain is very selective. It adapts to whatever is important and quickly ignores unnecessary and routine sounds etc. When I went to my secondary school in the fifties the school was situated very close to Watneys brewery. The smell of hops was sickly and overwhelming. In a short time we didn’t smell it. It was only when new entrants arrived and complained about the smell that we were reminded of it. We literally didn’t smell it.

We live on a main road and I've gradually reached a point where I sleep through traffic noise and even the bright street lights don't wake me.
When we go on holiday to peaceful places, I realise how good I've got at streaming out noise and light. You'll do the same.
