I went to a Tom Jones concert some years ago in Hyde Park, not really knowing what to expect, I had been invited to go with someone else. It was brilliant! He was clearly enjoying the performance, truly generous and indulgent with the audience. At one point a group of elderly women all walked up to the stage together with "granny pants"/big bloomers that had been stitched together in a long row, and presented them to him
"from the women of Wales".
At the end, he stood alone centre stage and sang "The Green Green Grass of Home" unaccompanied. I wasn't a fan before but I am since. He was magnificent as a live performer.
