Mascara

lucky to have long fairly thick lashes naturally, but the colour is beginning to go, so I dye them every couple of months with DIY kit from Boots and top up when needed with Aldi rock bottom price mascara and best I have ever had.

Clarins mascara is lovely and it's easy to remove with Simple cleansing wipes. I use two wipes every night to remove every trace of make-up and mascara. Then I "feed" my skin with Estee Lauder eye serum and night cream.

Of course I don't look any younger in the morning, so then I use Estee Lauder day cream before applying make-up. I don't feel dressed until I've done my face and wouldn't dream of going out without cosmetics.

Old habits die hard ...

It's actually spelt Micellar. I got it wrong! It's called a cleansing water but it's so efficient. Will take off anything. And it is just like water which is one of the things I really like about. It's by Garnier.

Oh dear I'm sooo out of date! I haven't used mascara for yonks though think I got a sample of the tubing mascara a while back and found it odd. I love my moisturiser, blusher, lippy and a bit of subtle pencil under my lower lashes but that's it these days. Perhaps I should 'do' my lashes again if using mascara helps them to thicken?

I bought Blinc mascara after it was recommended on mumsnet. Can't get on with it all. So have gone back to maybelline which is a lot cheaper, but is prone to smudging if I am having a lots of laughing/crying session!

You're welcome Blinko. Think Chanel do a grey waterproof mascara, but I don't know what it's like or how much it costs. Rimmel used to do one, but I don't remember seeing grey on the shelf these days. Wouldn't be surprised if Mabelline or L'Oreal do one too.

Might be worth mentioning that tubing mascaras are not great for loads of volume, not like a couple of the mascaras mentioned on here.

I always wear mascara, even if I have very little makeup on. However, I don't use waterproof as it makes my eyes itchy when removing it. I find the best make is Bobby Brown.

I recently received a free mascara (Beauty Naturals) as part of a Daily Mail promotion and am really disappointed with it. The brush is scratchy, and the mascara flakes - a nightmare if you wear contact lenses. I shall be writing to the manufacturers immediately after this.

I have been using Clinique mascara - it was a bit more expensive than the Boots or Max Factor I have used in the past but it lasts twice as long and it is very good. I am a contact lens wearer so need to use ones without the fibres in.

I dye my own eyelashes and eyebrows and have done for years as they have always been very blonde. I use Eylure Pro-Brow which I buy online from Amazon. I also have a 12x magnifying mirror which I can use without wearing my glasses and this works for me. Also just discovered the tubing mascara thanks to Gransnet which I love.

My eyelashes are really thin. I've tried an awful lot of mascara but always come back to Lancome hypnoise. Not cheap but worth it. I've also resorted to having individual ones from a salon when I go on holiday. If Mary Berry can do it anyone can!

winifred Try googling "specs for applying makeup" I did and got several sellers.

Not able to see to do eye makeup without specs? Me too! Anyone seen specs.that you can drop one side while you do one eye then the other? Difficult to explain. Have seen them advertised but not since I need them.

Max Factor Masterpiece is my favourite mascara, lasts all day and easy to remove.

'They're REAL' by Benefits is brilliant. I've worn it for ages now. It stays put until you take it off at night. £20 but it is worth every penny. I wear in every day without fail & it lasts about 4-5 months so not bad value inn the long run.
I must admit I'm intrigued by these tubing mascaras. I may give one a go & see how it compares.

I have tried various mascaras, as my eyelashes are so short and straight. By far and away the best is one from an optical specialist, "Eye Care Cosmetics" -
It is their Volumizing Mascara, for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

It lengthens and curls lashes without clumping, nor smudging or irritation - and they have 3 for 2 on at the moment!

I read excellent reviews of this by beauty writers and have been using it for 2 years now. It never smudges and is quite easy to remove. I think you can buy it elsewhere besides M&S, but I haven't seen it.

I am another who has never heard of tubing mascara before. I must have wasted hundreds of pounds on mascaras which were useless. I have now ordered a Blinc as well as a L'Oreal, which is cheaper and includes a primer. After all these years I am hopeful of a good result!

always use waterproof either rimmel or maybelline, nothing with filaments in, always remove at night otherwise pands eyes in the morning

For those of you who still love wearing make up as I do ( I am 65) if you have sparse eyelashes try Rapid lash its not expensive and you can buy it in boots. it does boost those lashes!. I love YSL mascara and I have tried many!

Thanks so much, Wilma. I've viewed the Blinc video and found it most illuminating, not having come across tubing mascara before. Where have I been, missing out all these years?

I wonder has anyone found a grey mascara that's waterproof? I've tried everywhere and only found one from Germany which isn't waterproof (now that I've bought it!).

Clinique natural glossy brown/black and the best magnifying mirror you can find. Boots do a good handbag size one. You see things you never knew you had!

I have no colour left in my eyelashes now so I get them tinted every 4-5 weeks, but I also use mascara most days. I'm currently using one I bought in Lidl - Cien. Cheap as chips and one of the best I've ever bought! No clumps or spiders legs. Removed very easily with micellar water, which I use to cleanse my face every day anyway. I'm also intrigued by the tubes, never heard of that, will consult Dr Google.
