what is best for crochet blankets for babies, that would be washable and not cost the earth? is acrylic OK for babies?

I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino but I suspect the babies’ mums would have preferred something machine washable!
They were very polite though 🤣🤣🤣

That one is lovely, I've used it but then changed to Sirdar Snuggly.

I've volunteered to make a couple of garments for charity so will be using Baby Blossom self-patterning which I bought for a project but won't use.

superwash wool is chemically processed btw, I would not use it on my own skin let alone on baby skin

I'm not keen on it, as it tends to sag when washed, but again, it's an 'each to her own' thing. Acrylic is very popular, and some local yarn shops seem to sell nothing else.

Just as a matter of interest though, if chemicals put you off, why would you wear acrylic, but not superwash wool?
