Puddled curtains

I don't like to see curtains in a heap (puddling) at the bottom. The ones in my living room/lounge/front room, whatever you call it, are almost to the floor. The bedroom ones are a bit shorter.

We did puddle clay when we made a pond but have never puddled curtains. Sorry.

My friend is an interior decorator and makes curtains. She always insists that they finish at the floor and no further. However here in Scotland many people think its weird! I think its because many live in draughty houses. She always asks what the client wants and does exactly what they require. Personally I am with her and think that the curtains hang better when not touching the floor.

What happens when you draw the curtains together ?
I think this type of curtain would drive mad.

I think you need a thick curtain for the puddled effect to look good. I have some tapestry ones in our lounge which look good puddled. We do not close the curtains very often as I also have plain blinds. It might be a bit of a pain to keep rearranging them after closing.

Puddled curtains look lovely if you have large windows and plenty of floor space around them, preferably in an old house, otherwise they look as though they need shortening

Yes I think its a trend that is quite old fashioned now SuzanneLewis along with swags and tails. I used to like the "puddled" look but my husband hated it.

Puddled curtains were a silly fad about twenty years ago.

I didn't know this was a thing. Thought it was just too long curtains.

Having thought about it for a few seconds though, I would go for just above floor length.
Those puddles of material will attract dust and insects.

Our bedroom curtains puddle on floor which happened because we moved house and wanted to reuse curtains. With pole and tiebacks, they look luxurious.
Our other curtains were bought to fit to just above floor level in our modern house.
In a period house, puddled curtains can look great.

Used to be that when curtains were home made, hem was not finished until curtains had been hung for a while in case they "stretched"

Not keen on the look and a dust trap personally, but I am probably very old fashioned!

Mine stop just short of the floor, probably a couple of cms.

Decided not deco!

When I bought new curtains for our guest bedroom they were 2-3 inches too long. I put them up to see how much I should shorten them by and deco that I liked the puddling effect so I left them as they were.

Not sure I understand the question tbh the curtains puddle on the floor otherwise they'd just be floor length

Never heard of these but I m guessing there’s material left on the floor so I can only see them getting dirty or being something to fall over but that’s not really answering your question so I ll be interested to catch up with fashion and hear all about them from others
