What are you making?

Aggie - I find I am faster at crochet and it grows more quickly than does knitting! Give it a go ... there are some good tutorials on you tube,you can crochet along with them and pause the video when you need to. Much easier to learn from watching someone else actually doing it, than from reading in a book

That is a lovely blanket, Travelsafar, but I see what you mean about it not sitting quite right. Have you tried blocking it?

I have knitting, making cards, embroidery, painting, all on the go or needing to be started or finished. I do like doing things for charities, but they would all go bust if they relied on my offerings!

I have started a 'temperature blanket' in crochet. It's where you assign a colour to a temperature range and crochet a line per day in the colour that corresponds to that day's temperature. So I'm not going to be finishing this until next New Year'sEve!!

In the meantime I'm planning a cross stitch sampler for GD's bedroom and a few little knits for her.

I stumbled across some lovely photo's on Pinterest, of Summer dresses where the yolk and sleeves are crochet, but the skirts are cotton. They look easy to make up, so I may give that a go too.

I've started another Crumpled Paper bird but my poor eyesight is preventing me doing a good job.
The picture is a Wren in a silver nest. And a bone carving of a canoe prow.

Because I have AMD and Sorsby's fundus dystrophy, plus, to add spice to the mix, cataract , astigmatism and glaucoma - such fun - I'm confined to knitting in winter which I can do with my eyes closed, literally, and very simple things such as making doily angels for Christmas with my grandson.

I used to paint, sculpt, draw and do all manner of crafts, including quilting and count myself lucky that I had 63 years of that before losing my sight.

I joined a yarn group a couple of years ago in the hope I would finish some abandoned projects.
I had started baby clothes for DGC now aged 10 or more.....and was then expecting another.
I did quite well with help but while the others never stop knitting/ spinning/ lace making, I only do mine in the class.
I am about to knit socks for a baby.

Just completed a small wall hanging. 12 inches across, and made using macrame knotwork for the tree, woven backcloth and needle felted leaves. I used an old broken (and repaired) embroidery hoop to work on and to frame it.

Like your crumpled bird Bradford, also Maybelles wall hanging is very attractive.

My New Year resolution is to finish my WIPs (Works in Progress) before I start anything new. That means completing 4 crochet blankets, two Aran hoodies (child size thankfully), two cardigans for me and a knitted reindeer for my DD. That might need to be next year's resolution too!
I also have unfinished lavender bags.......
Oh lordy that looks like a whole lot of work but I unfortunately am being treated for heart failure so pretty limited in doing a lot so just need to summon up the oomph and get on with it ??!

Been making a tea cosy this morning following a tutorial on utube. Just off locally to the first craft club of the year where if I remember correctly after Christmas/New year break we are knitting a tissue box cover - such excitement as DH tells me but makes a pleasant afternoon as we chat more than make!

Loopyloo, where did you find the reindeer pattern? Sounds like one I'd like to make for next December.

I've got a new sewing-machine and am practising applique. I just finished knitting myself a tunic and I like it so much, I'm planning to knit another one. Then there are patterns for cushions which I bought from Sewing Quarter....

Loopylou, me to. Finally get the new zip into my warm, and 10 years ago expensive anorak, finish the cover for my Kenwood mixer. Finish the tapestry covers for a chair, make new curtains for our bedroom.

They all are stacked so neatly in my sewing bedroom. Every time I get going, I start by carefully sort through the stack/stash again to remind myself of what needs to be done and that takes up so much time that I then have to tidy them away again as it is nearly a meal time.

M0nica well done on the zip. I discovered a tent repair shop where they replace heavy duty zips so saved me tackling mine.
I stayed up late to finish the baby socks last night so hopefully they'll get on their way to the frozen north later today. This was my first attempt at socks so I am quite proud.

I love crochet, but can you have too many crochet throws...

MOnica That is a familiar tale. I waste spend more time tidying up half-made things, materials and tools that I do actually making anything. Then finding the appropriate colours etc for something means taking a whole lot of stuff out and untidying it again.
