Thinking of selling due to heat

Now I know this might sound a tad dramatic but here in London high temps are becoming the norm over the past few years. We live in a house that would need a lot spending on it to install AC and we still wouldn’t be able to go out during the day due to the heat. I am a full time carer for my husband and am finding the continued extreme heat depressing and exhausting. Am therefore wondering if we should move back to North Lancashire where we are from originally and where temps have been much lower and bearable. The only difficulty is that we would not be near our daughters and with one DD having a health crisis right now it has been good to be nearby.
But can think of no easy solution to this. ATM we are sitting in a house where the curtains are closed all day and we can’t go out because temps are already over 30 degrees.

I am curious, op, as to what you are thinking now about moving.

We’ll have shelved moving for now, and with the help of the family will be funding a reputable company to install AC this winter.
Couldn’t bear a summer as hot as this year again. And all indications with regard to El Niño are that it will be hotter next year.

In the grand scheme of things, the heatwaves didn't last all that long, did they? 40 days (not continuous) out of 365. Uncomfortable at the time - and it must have been very difficult for people who had to work - but it's all over now. It would certainly be a couple of degrees cooler in the North of England but would you want all the upheaval of moving AND to be away from your children, just for the sake of avoiding a month of above-average heat?

Who’s to say that it’s going to be cooler in Lancashire next year or the year after.
Scotland could turn into the tropics 🤷‍♀️

We had many days of over 35deg (outer SW London) but with efficient fans, and by religiously closing curtains/windows when any sun was on them, it was bearable. I wasn’t doing much, though - there was a lot of chilling on the sofa, reading or knitting!

I can't settle to even doing nothing when it's too hot.
London has that 'stillness' too.
