A message from my long dead Grandfather is so upsetting.

Well even if you believe this garbage Sarnia why do you have to presume he’s not at rest, if you believe the dead can send messages why can’t peaceful, happy, contented grandads send messages. Do you believe you can only send messages if you’re wandering around lost and looking for heavens gates.

This is all your insecurities about him dying coming out and what you’ve been taught have dying, heaven, clouds, locked gates, restless souls.
gone accept it and remember your love and happy times together, that’s his only legacy, don’t tarnish it, it’s all he can give you now.

I would be sceptical and get rid of the notion your grandfather is not at rest.
If I did have insight I certainly wouldn't warn anyone,that's just cruel.

If Psychic Mediums are genuine, why are they having to make a not very successful living doing what they do? Why aren't they doing something good for humanity with these special powers? Performing in pubs, small theatres etc is hardly giving us confidence they are able to do anything other than take money from the susceptible.

Any commercialised enterprise is suspect. Buyer beware indeed!

However some of the anecdotes here on Gransnet are not about commercial enterprises. To understand those, I think we need to filter out psychological anomalies such as hallucinations and waking dreams. There remains a core of inexplicable events.

It is the thought that if he can send messages then he isn't at rest and that upsets me. Many people will disagree with that but that is how I feel.

I think some people are better at reading other people than most. If you have had a lot of experience and are insightful you can sum a person up pretty quickly from the way they dress, speak, facial expression, language etc. Until something hits me in the face in broad daylight, I will remain in Team Sceptic.

I would take comfort that, if this is genuine, your DGF is still thinking of you and loves you. If not genuine, you know he loved you anyway.

But your grandaughter didn’t have a flash of knowledge Sazz1 she said what many children would say when they knew an old person was in hospital and ill ‘She ll die’ because her mental connection with hospitals was someone very, very ill or near death will be sent there. That’s not a prediction it’s an observation

If you’re mum had been running around at home playing with the child and out of the blue the child said ‘granny will die tomorrow’ and she dropped dead that would be a different story but obviously the little girls connection with hospitals was last resort / death

My DD aged 7 predicted my mother's death. Mum was in hospital for 2 weeks having tests for cancer and other things, all negative, and was much better. She was being discharged the next day. All the way to the hospital my daughter said granny won't come home she's going to die. I told her it was rubbish and not to say anything to granny.
The next day I had a phone call from the hospital to come immediately. Mum had a blocked artery in her leg, they were going to operate, they put in the premed and she had a massive heart attack. She died a few hours later. I've never forgotten my 7 Yr old saying that.

My friend and I moved to a seaside town to work in a hotel, when we were 16. We rented a bedsit in a nice lady's house who told us she was a fortune teller. We both wanted our fortune told so she told us we could have it for half price. She told me I would marry in 18 months, 2 people would die within the same year, I would have 5 pregnancies and 3 children. I didn't even have a boyfriend at the time and didn't believe her. Everything came true and she's the only fortune teller ever that has been accurate.
On a humerus note my neighbour went to a fortune teller who told her there was a problem with water. She had just booked a camping trip in France, and was thinking of cancelling it. As we walked home and she opened the back gate the water ran out to meet her. The pipe on the washing machine had broken and flooded the kitchen and garden

Its not really a worrying problem. Your daughter enjoyed her evening. The psychic medium passed on a pleasant message to her. This doesnt mean your grandfather is not at rest. It maybe meant to open your mind to the possibility of a happy afterlife.
But you can choose to ignore it, to be sceptical and to feel hoodwinked. But its not a problem unless you interpret it as one. A good psychic medium should get your first names correct but thats it. They dont know your last name, date of birth etc. At least your daughter felt a burst of positivity. Nice, kind people are most likely to be at rest.

Messages that mediums get are sometimes garbled and confused, so they don't always get it right. It was described as being like tuning into a radio, you hear snatches of various stations until maybe one comes through more clearly. Some mediums hear these messages better than others, so don't be too harsh on them if they don't get an accurate message. I guess they do their best.

People who say it's all nonsense and mediums are all fakes just don't realise what is going on out there.

There are clever mediums, and empathetic mediums for sure. There are mediums who sincerely believe they can communicate with ghosts of dead people.

The fact remains that anyone who knowingly makes a false or questionable claim ought not to do so. Especially when the claim is directed at those who are suffering from the loss of a dear one.

The psychic wasn’t Stuart Michael was he? He started out doing our local pub, then local theatre and now all over the country because he’s that good. In the early days he did tarot readings and all his predictions came true. He pointed to the right side of my head and said he could see a pink orb indicating I’d lost a baby girl which I had.

I too was a skeptic before my loss, but he’s the only psychic I’ve ever been to who could accurately name names and past histories. He comforted me a great deal when I lost my youngest son aged 25 to suicide. My late DIL pushed him forward gently so he could speak according to Stuart.

Well, Stuart knew nothing about me let alone I’d also lost my DIL. I don’t have social media for him to look up etc. He got it right with everyone when he came through for the audience.

The message was not from your grandfather; it was from a man claiming to be a Medium who delivered it, unsolicited, to your daughter who passed it on to you. His only credence is that he knew your grandfather's christian names and your christian name; not too difficult to discover. The 'message' was very anodyne, but there is nothing in it to cause you alarm and you know your grandfather would not wish you to be unhappy.

Medium and the like are scam artists who are good at reading people's reactions to certain words or phrases .There is a sucker born ever minute ..

Please use common sense.

Bluebell-my friebd is old ,unwell and lonely.
I've cut back on meeting up with her ,but feel guilty.
I try to get her off the subject and I've told her that it goes against my Christian beliefs .
But she just rambles on ...

I once went with a friend to visit a nationally famous medium (some of the older Grans would remember this medium's name) who was visiting Edinburgh and who could be consulted in her hotel.

She was personable and friendly . She looked at me and laughingly said "I'm reading you already!"

Good mediums couldn't possibly guess the sorts of things they say. I'm meaning really detailed and specific personal stuff.

Since good mediums can earn quite a lot of money it's worth their trouble to sort through your rubbish, or to insert into your life a 'friend' or acquaintance to spy on their behalf.

I agree there's no proof that life after death goes not exist. However I cannot see that once the physical brain has become dust or ashes the dead person's mind can keep on functioning.
