SPARKS card a waste of time

I spent a lot in M&S but haven’t had any rewards for months. Obviously they don’t care that much about loyalty

Cedardove Thu 06-Jun-24 13:27:43

I was just thinking the other day that I didn’t have any recent emails from M&S/Sparks about offers. On the other hand they are always asking me to do surveys which I have stopped doing.

I have a Sparks card but rarely use it now although I used to. The offers do not relate to anything I buy and the freebies are rarely available anyway. Don't really get the point of it any more.

I can only think that those of you who say they have had no offers are not scanning your cards when you shop or not checking your offers on the sparks section of the M&S app I have a card and so does my husband. Mine gets used loads and his only very occasionally but we both get offers. Mine do tend to be much better than his but even so he does get some decent reductions.
I would use it even without the offers because it adds to my selected charity which is UNICEF which has been given £1,179;418 since I joined Sparks in 2015 and in total for all the charities they donate to the amount is £16,054,562.
I do think you should check these things before posing on here ( I know I will get some nasty comments now but I don’t care)

I'm with henetha how do you used it? I always present it when I buy anything (which isn't often these days) but nothing happens.
Do I need another dreaded 'app'?

Alison333 Thu 06-Jun-24 14:42:11

To get the offers you need to use the Sparks card and log into your M & S account regularly. You can then click on any offers you want or you don't get them.

I don't understand why people are saying they aren't getting any offers?

Euro 2024 football stickers (for grandsons) are still available in my local store. I ask for them now when I use the self-service checkouts but some stores have run out.

Right from the very start I decided the Sparks card was just a clever way to make you think you were getting some kind of privilege whem, in reality, all you were doing was enabling your buying habits to be tracked! Every time I got a special offer, and I DO mean every time, the item was not available in my local store, so when my card was swallowed by the belt at the til, I was quite relieved and thought it a very fitting end!

I rarely get any offers these days, just 10% off random food items. Much preferred the £5 off vouchers in the past. Rarely buy food items apart from some vegetables and items on offer as I find it expensive. Don’t find clothes flattering either.

No wonder. They have to get the money to pay their CEO Michin his 10 million pounds bonus

Albangirl14 Thu 06-Jun-24 16:13:26

I was asked to complete a survey about Sparks offers . I pointed out that they often were no use as for example 50p off Swiss Rolls if you spend £3 . Swiss rolls are £2 each so no use. 75p off puddings over £4 and a photo of Tiramisu that costs £3.75 and so on . They continue to send me useless vouchers.

HomeAgain123 Thu 06-Jun-24 16:26:23

Agree my offers are always food related something I rarely buy but yes I do shop for to many clothes … never received a freebie

HomeAgain123 Thu 06-Jun-24 16:27:50

I do log on as it’s on my phone so easy and yep only food and occasionally undies

Grannynannywanny Thu 06-Jun-24 16:38:54

I had 20% off women’s trousers and 20% off women’s underwear in recent weeks. I have the Sparks app on my phone and scan it each time I shop there( which isn’t very often) They alert me by email when new offers are available and I go to the app and accept them there. I haven’t had a freebie for a while. Last one was a bag of cookies from the bakery section about 3 months ago.

I seldom make purchases in M&S. I wonder if those of us who are less frequent customers are the ones receiving more offers to entice us in 🤔

Please take time to read exactly what I said instead of posting self righteous comments

lily64 Thu 06-Jun-24 17:39:25

Apologies I have replied to the wrong person. Please excuse my ignorance

I wont buy in Tesco anymore, since i heard their Chief exec
(Boss I assume) had just received his salary? 0f £10 Million!!
That included bonus. Why does anyone need £10 Million per annum?
Bye bye Tesco

I've only got a Sparks card because, after my staff discount card was stolen, it was the only way to get my staff discount. I've not noticed any other benefit.

If you get the offer for the free white loaf that PP mentioned,, it is not just for a white loaf although it illustrates one. If you click on what that offer includes you will see it includes many kinds of loaves. I can use it to get a free gluten free loaf which normally costs £3. So very much appreciated!
Sparks card offers are not so good as they used to be though.

M&S closed their branch in my town so I rarely shop there now. I recently went to a nearby town and bought some jeans from M&S but as the cashier rang the transaction through while I still hadn't got my card out so I missed out! I wouldn't know how to access my account as I haven't seen any emails from them in a while.

lemsip Fri 07-Jun-24 07:01:28

yes a waste of time.

Goldieoldie15 Fri 07-Jun-24 07:09:50

Waste of time. Definitely. I was once offered a pack licorice sweets. A joke! Bots card is excellent. I bought one of those super fancy hairdryers with the card alone. Now that’s what I call a loyalty card.

Sussex02 Fri 07-Jun-24 08:05:31

Tesco Clubcard and Boots are SO much better.

DamaskRose Fri 07-Jun-24 08:13:26

Am I supposed to present the Sparks card at the till, I have never been asked for it.

Bicycle1 Fri 07-Jun-24 10:13:21

I agree regular customers don’t get offers any more , rang customer services , waffle assured if I change my setting on app would come through . No offers at all except food I never eat 🙈yet daughter who never shops in marks got 20percent

NotSpaghetti Fri 07-Jun-24 11:23:33

I buy some M&S through Ocado.
No benefits to that! grin

Theexwife Fri 07-Jun-24 11:53:14

Yes, that is how your offers are activated if you have any.
