Congratulations, shame your DH thinks the pub is more important than sharing the evening with you.
We made it to our 54th anniversary but DH was dying so it was the only one we did not celebrate in our very happy marriage.
Don't just buy the wine, treat yourself to the finest food and delicious dessert too.

I've never expected anyone to remember our wedding anniversaries except us. If we wanted to celebrate a major one with friends and family that would be different but we are happy to do our own thing. Instead if expecting OH to remember I just mention it will be our anniversary and we should go out for dinner.
Cannot understand why one partner is expected to remember and give a gift without the same expectation on the other.

Congratulations I hope you enjoyed your wine and didn't leave any for your husband. Empty Bottles chink loud..having done it years ago with a bottle of port.

Congratulations Jakuss. My DH wasn’t one for birthdays or anniversaries either, although the next time we went out for a meal, I’d always raise my glass and wish him Happy Anniversary - often the look on his face was priceless. Sadly he died last year and didn’t make it to our Golden earlier this month.
I think I’d be tempted to wear as much green as possible and if your DH comments, tell him why. Emerald is my favourite stone - when we were burgled many years ago, I added up all the jewellery that was stolen and treated myself to an emerald ring with the money.

Happy Annversary! I remember, years ago sending a Silver Anniversary card and present to my cousin and her husband for whom I had been bridesmaid. Unfortunately I was a year early, but each thought their partner would remember, but they had forgotten, and literally bumped into each other at the front door sneaking out to buy a card!

I forgot our anniversary once due to pressure of work. We laughed about it. Usually the man who forgets! This year was our 25th but we hadn’t done the maths and thought it was next year. Who cares? Still being together is the important thing,

Congratulations, Jakuss! Some Crème de Menthe would be a good tipple for an emerald anniversary - or Sticky Green, as my father used to call it, when we were allowed a very little as children.

Congratulations - we are a couple of years away. Don't ruminate, but remind him with a touch of humour, that a good Dinner out and a decent bottle is on the cards- even if he forgot it!

I always make a point of gently dropping hints when birthdays and anniversaries are a few days away. I remember how upset my Mother got when Dad forgot - and he always forgot.
I honestly think some men just can't get their heads around how much importance we put on to these things, and the dates don't register with them.
I think you've done the right thing, its not worth making a fuss about. Enjoy your wine tonight, I'll think of you when I'm having my Friday G&T whilst husband of 64 years is at the pub with his mates.

My husband always remembered, just didn`t make a fuss about it. We never made it to Emerald, only clocked up 53 years.

Congratulations on 55 years

We had a big anniversary this year and we got a grand total of 2 cards I came to the conclusion that other people don't care but as long as you celebrate it the way you want, it doesn't matter. Book a nice meal and hotel

Congratulations jakuss - it’s never too late to start as you mean to go on! Treat yourself to something new, frivolous and/or a pampering session.

I’m sorry your DH hasn’t remembered such a special event - have you bought him a card? If you don’t show him that these things are important to you (it would be to me) then he’ll never know and will just assume that you’re happy not to bother too.

I hope today is a good day for you both and that you can celebrate together (if, of course, that’s what you want to do)
