Boris Johnson using the term "kids"

Every time I hear Boris Johnson referring to children as "kids" I scream at the radio. They are not baby goats! My husband says Boris is trying to appeal to the masses but it just annoys me.

Neither am I, funnily enough grin. I'm not bothered that he might be upset by so much over-familiarity, but it's the 'man of the people' connotations that irritate me, when he so clearly isn't anything of the sort.

I call him Johnson.
It sounds more like someone who should be an adult dealing responsibly with the job of prime minister, which he clearly isn't.

Oopsminty, it’s interesting that you say you don’t like hearing people call the PM Boris. It made me think, I can only recall two PMs called by their first names regularly, and those are Maggie and Boris. Are there any others? I can’t think of any.

I use the term 'kids' myself. In the bigger picture, does it matter?

I say ‘kids’ frequently, and I am quite fussy about speech and the use of words. It’s acceptable as a colloquial, informal term.
