Small things that annoy me.

On Gransnet:
People who come on a thread which is discussing how great a tv programme/film/book is just to say they dislike it and can't believe people would enjoy it. Please know that we don't care what your opinion is!!
When there is a thread about "What we have had for lunch/dinner" posters never admitting that they had a cheese sandwich or sausage and mash. It's always organic polenta and thin slivers of marinated aubergine or suchlike. Come off it please!!
When there is a jolly, lighthearted thread and everyone is thoroughly enjoying it and someone has to come on and tell us off for being shallow when there are so many heartbreaking things going on in the world. We know all about that, thank you, but surely we can have a few moments of fun without someone throwing cold water over the thread?

So many things that aren’t, being called ‘amazing’.

Having aliens land in my back garden, or winning the £1m jackpot on the Ernies would be amazing.
Or perhaps my dh announcing that henceforth he was going to do all the cooking in this house. (Not that I’d be over the moon - current arrangement is that he does all the clearing up.)

Pedant hat on, so many people who’d never have done it not so long ago, dropping their t’s all over the place. Do they think it makes them sound cool, or more ‘edgy’, or wot?

Yeh I hope you were pleased with all the help and recommendations you were given when you asked for advice re hip replacements. Understandable if it's the arthritic pain that is making you seem so grumpy today.

Then perhaps this thread is not for you while you’re feeling like that Yeh? I mean that kindly, I really do. We can all have really rubbish things going on in our lives and we can recognise that there are horrible things going on in the wider world whilst posting on a thread which allows us to offload about the minor things which bug us - it doesn’t make us bad people.

Because I’ve just been catching up on a thread where a new grandmother is distraught about a life-limiting condition in her new grandchild that attracted barely any sympathy. Yet grumping little threads like this....

people who slurp tea loudly
them texting while your talking to someone
people who are late.
no manners
LOUD people
and finally people who have been there and done that long before i ever did,........not

People who post on threads when they have absolutely no point to make other than to sneer at the person who started it and those who are participating in it and causing no harm to anyone whatsoever. Just why??

People who have the time to stress about small ‘things’ and start threads about them.

Save your angst for ‘things’ that really matter.

People who put the loo roll on the wrong way - the end sheet should hang over the roll. I have been known to correct this is in other people’s homes. Sorry not sorry.

The leaves on my lawn. Yes I know trees shed their leaves and yes I knew this when we bought a house backing onto woodland but I hate hate hate raking them up every year.

People who have literally no opinions on anything. How can you go through life being so disinterested or lacklustre?

I'm going to add another one, kids on scooters in supermarkets or shops, not really the place, what's wrong with the park

Spatial awareness, or lack of it. People who walk along glued to their phone - Other people are walking towards you, look up please, don't put the onus on others to dodge you.

People who think notices don't apply to them, such as "please remove all your items" changing cublice at gym/health club, thinking they can save it for when they've finished whatever, they deserve all their stuff getting dumped on a bench. Lockers are there for a reason!

Again at the gym people who use their phones on treadmill so one is forced to listen to conversation, people who think they can reserve a piece of equipment because they've put a water bottle on it, but have walked away from said equipment and then jump at you if you have the cheek to try and use it,having not seen the water bottle, with a "I'm on that" when clearly they aren't.

People who set up their office on trains using adjacent seat for stuff and then go into a major hurrumphing session if you ask to sit down in that space. Do they buy two tickets? I think not

People who park unncessarily close to car in carkparks with designated spaces. On a couple of occasions couldn't open my door and had to access it from passenger side, climbing over gears etc to get to driver seat, not that easy anymore

Mothers with pushchairs who don't acknowledge with a thanks if you hold the door open for them. I was grateful when I had mine in a pushchair and someone did that for me, the world's a nicer place with manners. Most do, but I remember holding the door for one young mother and she waltzed passed me without a smile, "thank you is the word you are searching for" said I, "I don't have to thank you" she replied "I don't have to hold the door open for you" I responded

Litter droppers or on a larger scale dumping really big items.

I hate being called a ‘guy’ by anybody (usually waiters and waitresses)

People (other than my husband, who has been trained) WHO TRY TO LOAD MY DISHWASHER.

And the snoring is in the 'big things' category IMO. It could possibly incite me to kill its very annoying

I agree about the "hubby" thing - too twee for words!

I thought I was the only one who hated the "fur babies" thing. Yes you love them but they are animals not children! I recall many years ago taking my , dearly loved, cat to the vet for treatment. The vet said something along the lines of "Mummy can hold you" I gave him what my husband used to call my death stare and muttered through gritted teeth that I was not the cat's mother

I don’t like those chain email either. I no idea why people send them to me I’ve never passed one on.
Women who tell me “ oh I can’t drive all that way Alan/ husband/partner wouldn’t let me. Is it an excuse because you don’t want to/anxious about it. If so that’s fine. If he’s a controlling bully ignore him and come or at the very least tell me.
People on mobile phones when they should be concentrating on what their doing. What do they find to talk about all day long?
My glass coffee table it always full of sticky handprint cup stains even if it’s not the dust settles on it within minutes of being cleaned.
Snoring, it one of the few things my husband does that annoys me along with faffing about when we need to get going.
