I don't understand either why Pips/Pippa is referred to throughout by the female pronoun. If he/she is 50/50 then both pronouns should be used equally for him/her. He/she is seeking equality of female/male in her/his life, after all.

Did you notice that I used him/her sometimes and her/him at others? Usually one sees it as male/female - that isn't equality.
