I'm no longer sure which "generation" I belong to Absent but I am one of those unfortunate people to be what some call the "sandwich" generation. I know I am very lucky to have my grandma (who will be 99 this year) still with me. At 53 I have a huge responsibility for her care and general welfare as she lives alone and is totally dependent on me and her carers. My mum (her only surviving child) is in her 70's but in far worse health than my grandma so totally unable to provide any care/ help whatsoever. I also have responsibilities towards my own 3 grandchildren for whom I provide 2-3 days care per week and I "work" 32 hours a week. I am under no illusion (and not would I ever expect) that my children would do the same. Why the hell should they? Infact if I'm honest I hope they don't! I hope that they are selfish and do what they want to do, when they want to do it .
Sorry didn't mean to rant.
Goodnight. Sorry.
Words you don’t often see now.
Only 50% of middle age adult manage more than 1 brisk 10 min walk a month.
Should the Judge in the teenagers rape case be struck off ?
, probably because, as with most things in life until it actually affects us personally we don't truly understand what it's like to be in that position, no matter how much we try to empathise. And, as a race we can't truly trust ourselves not to abuse voluntary euthanasia and use it for the wrong reasons.
