Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

grumppa Tue 07-Apr-15 21:25:49

Dragging back characters from the past is really a bit EastEndersish. And using Susan Carter as a fount of all knowledge of past Ambridge indiscretions is a clumsy device, not least because she is excruciating to listen to.

Having said that, it would be a welcome twist of the plot for roles to be swapped: Elizabeth could have Richard and Shula could have Roy, while Charlie's drone records the couplings in the blighted wheat on the eroded Ambridge soil, and it's whetted ploughshares at dawn between David and Kenton.

What we really need is a dose of Cold Comfort Farm.

What's happened to that DNA test then, Rob?

Lilygran Thu 09-Apr-15 22:40:56

I thought we were going a bit Starkadder when David suddenly realised he couldn't leave the farm, grumppa.

mollie65 Fri 10-Apr-15 07:15:38

thank you Lilygran - that jogged my memory about Cold Comfort farm smile
'there have always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm' - this was shown on TV some months ago - was feature length and spread over a couple of nights. Enjoyed it immensely (compared to some of the puerile offerings on TV) and have read the book some years back - very good read

I am still waiting for Tim Bentinck's answers from 31st March. I asked what had happened and was told they hadn't received them yet. I wonder if we are ever going to get them?

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 07:28:45

Are Saint Shula and Richard going to get together? Alistair was showing a distinct lack of interest in her dress! x

Leticia Fri 10-Apr-15 16:00:34

Yes- all set up for an affair!

merlotgran Fri 10-Apr-15 16:55:13

Your DH shows a lack of interest in your dress so you have an affair???

That's where I've been going wrong all these years hmm

J52 Fri 10-Apr-15 17:27:21

Well not all of us do! Hee,Hee!

But the script writers are becoming a bit blatant in their lead up to the story lines. x

Leticia Fri 10-Apr-15 17:35:11

The script writers are not exactly subtle these days!
Richard Lock reappears - Alistair shows no interest in her dress- bingo!
It will all end in tears and she will stay with Alistair! ( but only after weeks of angst).

Mishap Fri 10-Apr-15 18:38:50

Grounds for separation I should imagine!

suzied Sat 11-Apr-15 07:16:24

But I've often wondered what Alistair gets up to when he's off at his numerous conferences.....

Leticia Sat 11-Apr-15 07:44:01

Or if he got over the gambling addiction which was a main story for ages and then disappeared completely.

Iam64 Sat 11-Apr-15 09:05:59

Exactly suzied and Leticia -I love the way the Archers story lines have a slow build up. Alistair seems to spend a lot more time away from home than your average vet. St Shula is due for a bit of fun, but as has already been said, it'll end in tears.

mrshat Sun 12-Apr-15 17:10:35

Does anyone know the 'back story' of Shula and her pregnancy and what happened to her husband? I think I need a book of 'The Archers since it began!' Thanks grin

Mishap Sun 12-Apr-15 17:17:41

As I recall, Shula's OH Mark Hebden died in a road accident, after she became pregnant with Daniel. Getting pregnant was aided medically by Dr Richard Lloyd, although Shula did, I believe, once have an affair with him (?before she married) having poached him from Usha. Phew!

grumppa Sun 12-Apr-15 18:02:45

Mark Hebden's hit and run killer was never caught. Will he turn out to be a former teenage tearaway: Justin Elliot ..... or Rob?

Iam64 Sun 12-Apr-15 21:51:10

GRUMPPA!

Lilygran Mon 13-Apr-15 09:38:23

I think they should take grumppa on as a story consultant grin

mrshat Thu 16-Apr-15 20:02:35

Thanks Mishap and also Grumpa for the next scandal!! grin

suzied Sun 19-Apr-15 08:26:21

This week has been hilarious.. spoiler alert if you are an omnibus listener read no more!

Lilian's Botox, St Shula arranging a tryst with Richard after Alistair being "too tired " to dance at the barn dance, Rob getting nervous about the DNA test( how will he get out of this one? The cow ate my test result? ) love it!

Soutra Mon 20-Apr-15 09:27:14

So Rob has told Tom he and Helen are trying for a baby? Has anybody told Helen?

Mishap Mon 20-Apr-15 10:41:12

Nasty conniving man - boo! hiss! - it is getting more like a pantomime every day - we are left in no doubt whom to love or hate!

merlotgran Mon 20-Apr-15 10:46:54

At least Rob is right about one thing. Helen definitely has a screw loose.

sara4 Sat 25-Apr-15 17:30:09

What if Rob had his DNA results sent to the farm office and somehow forged the 'official looking' letter received at to Blossom Hill cottage showing a negative result? (Yes I know it is only a story)
