Well I am an addict and proud of it! Love it all even the boring bits and now love Ambridge Extra.......I believe I am not alone either????

Lilygran Wed 04-Mar-15 22:32:04

Where's Helen?

merlotgran Wed 04-Mar-15 22:39:27

The last I heard of Helen she was saying, 'Where's Henry?'

Obviously nobody's bothered. grin

suzied Thu 05-Mar-15 06:45:57

According to the map Adam and Charlie are marooned together....can't wait for that episode. And what's happened to Ruth in her car?

Nelliemoser Thu 05-Mar-15 07:16:45

Two episodes of shouting and panic! This just does not work on radio, what a waste. I hope Rob gets a proper come uppance.
I am worried he might appear to be a hero. Can you imagine if he drowned! He would become a martyr in Helens eyes instead of the controlling nasty man he is .
I must look at the Ambridge map, my computer was playing up yesterday.

Nelliemoser Thu 05-Mar-15 07:52:09

Well I have just read the weather reports on the web page.
You have to give the program makers some credit for a good effort at making it real.

What I like about the program is that, as on this thread, the loyal listeners follow it avidly but with full realisation that it is a story.

There are not many Soaps that have this sort of following

I am obviously an unashamed Ambridge fan.

suzied Thu 05-Mar-15 08:50:45

I notice the website describes it as "contemporary drama in a rural setting", not "an everyday story of country folk". I much prefer it now, unbelievable storylines and all.

Gracesgran Thu 05-Mar-15 09:23:56

The Adam and Charlie Suzied bit has happened - there may be more of course. I won't say too much in case you are an omnibus listener smile

Mishap Thu 05-Mar-15 13:03:06

Just caught up with last night's episode. Bit of mouth-to-mouth from Charlie and Adam to enliven the day! - or was he just compressing his chest?!

I have lost the plot as to where each person is during this flood. Surely tonight can't be more flood tales, especially as they are supposed (as far as I can tell) to be taking place on the same night.

merlotgran Thu 05-Mar-15 13:20:11

Why wasn't Adam singing, 'Nellie the Elephant' as he performed CPR on Charlie?

They really should do things properly

suzied Thu 05-Mar-15 16:10:09

OMG pass me the smelling salts!

shysal Thu 05-Mar-15 17:17:45

Merlot, these days the tune is 'ah ah ah ah, staying alive, staying alive' grin
I am an omnibus listener, so shouldn't be reading this!

Anne58 Thu 05-Mar-15 20:01:21

shock

GrannyTwice Thu 05-Mar-15 20:08:20

But I'm still engaged with Shula ( or St Smugla as she's known on MN) and her lying to PC Plod shock

Galen Thu 05-Mar-15 20:45:32

confused I've lost the plot!
And as I'll be rushing around like scalded cat on Sunday preparing for some local grannies visit, I shall miss the omnibus!sad
But then, its a local GN meet so smile[sun]winecupcake

NanKate Thu 05-Mar-15 22:08:34

Galen do you have Freeview on your tv ? If yes you can record the Omnibus through your telly. I record lots of radio shows and listen through the tv.

merlotgran Fri 06-Mar-15 14:15:59

David seems to have forgotten all about Ruth and Ben. Maybe they're safely up in Prudhoe but what if she turned back to rescue her beloved cows? hmm

This is a link to the Radio 4 Feedback programme this afternoon and there is a very funny communication from a listener 23 minutes in which is a spoof on Churchill's Fight on the Beaches speech in defence of The Archers. The new director of The Archers will be on the prog next Friday afternoon to defend his corner after Feedback has received a "deluge" of complaints about the new style.

Gracesgran Sat 07-Mar-15 08:16:12

I think the floods storyline is a great asset to the programme. This did happen to farmers, communities had, in some cases to rely entirely on themselves for some time before "the authorities" got there and people lost much and were very, very frightened.

Well done Archers writers from me. I haven't liked all the stories as they seemed to go against the characters as we have known them, e.g., Matt's sudden disappearance, but in this case they have done well in my opinion.

Gracesgran Sun 08-Mar-15 10:02:08

All aboard for the omnibus or omniboat as the Beeb call it in their Facebook post smile

Just a reminder that the online stuff to help you keep on track is here www.bbc.co.uk/…/4WZj29DW…/ambridge-floods-at-a-glance

Gracesgran Wed 11-Mar-15 11:20:04

merlotgran Wed 11-Mar-15 13:31:04

Love it! grin

sparkygran Thu 12-Mar-15 18:53:55

Had been silently hoping that the "great flood" would clear out a few annoying characters but not to be Charlie and Rob survived hey ho there`s always the next catastrophe to happen and hope for the best (only joking)

eGJ Fri 13-Mar-15 21:26:20

Thanks for the Triptip Gracesgran grin Loved it!!

merlotgran Fri 13-Mar-15 21:29:36

Well, someone had to die.

Bet David could throttle Heather.

grumppa Fri 13-Mar-15 22:22:52

Can't understand why they killed off someone who had never spoken. No budgetary saving in dispensing with Frieda; a dead Bert Fry would have been better value for the licence payer.
