Theatre suitable for 13 year old girl?

The last show I saw before lockdown was Mary Poppins the musical. My local radio station used to have a show with musical show song requests and info. The two lovely hosts on there regularly used to rave about this show. I took the plunge and went- a sixty something female on my own. I kept thinking am I too old for this? Well I conclude a big fat no - it was amazing, truly fantastic and would thoroughly recommend to any ages. I enjoyed it so much I intended going to see it again but with lockdown it wasn’t to be well not until it reopens in August this year.

The other show I would have suggested was Wicked.

I have a 14 year old and 17 year old girl and we want to see Six so bad. Sadly, here in the US, it is just headed to NY and it will be a year or two until it starts to spread around the country. We are already listening to the music though so by the time we are able we will know all the words.

We saw Wicked and it was WONDERFUL. I highly recommend it, it will be very age appropriate.

Mean Girls
Dear Evan Hansen

These have some pretty adult themes so you may not feel comfortable. Though Mean Girls is recommended for age 13+ and our Girl Scout council did a discounted ticket deal for teens who are working on a particular program about interpersonal relationship at that age.

On my list to see (again) is Hamilton, IF we can afford the tickets.

Not sure what all you have available but honestly, going to the theater is an experience. Anything you pick will probably be wonderful for her and you. Any Disney show, including Frozen, will be perfect no matter the age.

I really wouldn't advise War Horse. It's a stunning production but DD and I were absolutely shattered when we came out and drove all the way home in total silence (unheard of).

I thought Wicked was pretty mediocre but I wasn't a 13 year old. I took DS to see the RSC's Comedy of Errors when he was about 8 or 9 and he nearly fell off his seat laughing.

Deedaa I was just about to suggest a Shakespeare play. Both my DGC love Shakespeare.

The 10 year old is Oberon in the Year 6 leavers play and at a similar age DGD was involved in a production of The Tempest.

They both attend/ed the same state primary that draws many of its pupils from a council estate with a high level of deprivation.

Make it a Shakespear comedy, Shakespeare tragedies might be a bit much for a 13 year old.

Oberon in Midsummer's Night Dream.

We saw ‘ Dead funny’, a few years ago with Steve Pemberton. Absolutely hilarious, but definitely not for kids. It must have advertised it as suitable though...because a mother and her two children left after about half an hour!!
