I'll join you in that toast, downtoearth - Pete certainly was the life and soul of that bar, wasn't he?

I'm glad he kept in touch with so many of us, even after he stopped posting on here. He must have been in PM correspondence with half of Gransnet!

Am feeling very sad pete was a virtual friend to me also,he propped up Lils bar and raised his pint of Bishops hat and munched virtual peanuts with a similar sense of humour to my own..must admit I was hoping maybe to encounter him again on my return...am raising a virtual toast to pete and hope that he is watching over us with a pint in his hand RIP pete from Lilxxxx

I didn't know Pete but he sounds a nice fellow.

I wonder what has happened to PapaOscar who posted regularly up until a few months ago. Has anyone seen posts from him recently?

I didn't know Pete, but it's always a shock when we lose a fellow gransnetter.

Btw nothing was said of his cause of death I just know of his recent health concerns.

Yes...his daughter posted it on his facebook page. Im shocked too.Though I know blood clots can be very dangerous,he was taking his medication and had gone for a scan. The worse was not something anyone would of expected.

I am in shock.

I have been in contact with Pete , more so since he stopped posting on GN.

Pete was so funny, a wonderful sense of humour and I am actually quite tearful at the moment.

I am thinking of his PM's where we shared stories of our Grandchildren and I feel so upset thinking of them at the moment. He was a support when my father died and my daughters divorce, albeit from a virtual pal.

I am so upset, are you absolutely positive this news is correct? I just can't believe it!

That's a shame. Never went in Pete's bar, but exchanged PMs. Another good man gone.

Another one here so sad at that news. Pete and I exchanged a few PM's about football and my DG, he was a firm Man Utd fan. A to you Pete
