August Book Club - Spare Brides by Adele Parks

My copy of "Spare Brides" arrived yesterday. I don't usually read this type of book but I' m really looking forward to starting it. Thank you very much I got a real suprise when the postman came.

Just received my copy this morning - have to finish what I am currently reading - a tear jerker 'Between a Mother and her Child' by Elizebeth Noble - I keep crying!! So will be pleased to read something less emotional next.

Oh dear, I started this book with high hopes for a glimpse of life post WW I, but despite some very heavy handed attempts at social commentary, it is becoming very Mills and Boon. Will she fall? Of course she will, a bit of 20's bodice ripping then happy ever after.
" Singled Out" by Virginia Nicholson is on the other hand a fascinating look at the many many ways women's lives were changed by the Great War.

I like Adele Parks and her books. Wasn't lucky in the draw so I've reserved a library copy and will join in the discussion.

Nor me and I've just had a look on the Book Club section and can't see it there either. Did you really advertise it GNHQ?
