Did anyone watch this yesterday? I really enjoyed it. I know there were some melodramatic moments but it was a great storyline. I hope they don't spoil it when it moves location in the new series next year.

I watched and enjoyed it. Did find the first half hour or so a bit dizzying with all the rapid camera movements though they settled down after a while. Great to see Charlie and Ethan again. At least everyone knows who Charlie is so luckily he doesn’t have to attempt acting. Thought there was a teaser that there may be a place for Ethan at Holby in the new series, hope so.
I have never heard of deliberately letting someone drown so that the little oxygen there is can save the other person who can then revive the drownee. Clever that.
So good to have something on TV to watch over the weekend, miss casualty like an old comfy pair of slippers.

I have always watched casualty and last night's episodes were brilliant I was on the edge of my seat and great to see Charlie and Ethan 😊

Yes, I think there is scope for Ethan to come back but not as an ED doctor, so we wouldn’t see much of him.
I did think it was “ miraculous” that both Flynn and Stevie survived.

I enjoyed it and disappointed that’s it till next year. I’ve watched Casualty and Holby (miss it) since the start, would be lovely if Ethan comes back in some capacity.

Anyone else wondering how the ambulance lights kept flashing underwater??

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Sept-26 13:59:27

The only soap I watch, it did stretch credibility a little, but easy viewing.

I love Casualty and look forward to it so much, but I don’t love these manic explosions that they seem to have every episode now, with army, police, SAS and whatever involved, I much prefer it when it’s ordinary casualties coming and going for medical help with everyday true to life stories.
That was ultra manic last night and at times VERY unbelievable

I think Indie is a great little actor and deserves more, recognition it was nice to see Father Christmas and Ethan back again, even if only one episode, Ethan looked small and thin I wonder what’s happened to Bohdi and if Ethan is still looking after him wasn’t that his main reason for leaving the show

Labradora Sun 06-Sept-26 14:43:53

Blimey! God knows I love the show but this one is wearing me out. There's so much going on. I managed to get half way through the second hour and logged out to watch the final half later.I left Stevie and Flynn in a heap on the edge of the quarry.
Agree nice to see Ethan and Charlie.
Ethan's Huntingdons obviously starting to affect him as he can't practice.
New season off with a bang .....

Charlie echoing Duffy's words, there is more good than bad in this world whilst encouraging others. ❤️

The first half was too "busy" for me as I had little idea who was being treated. The second was much better, but I am unsure how Stevie and Flynn survived. Stevie was resuscitated, then left and when the ambulance crew pitched up, somebody else took over. She would have been dead by then.

Charlie looked old and I didn't like his beard. Ethan was as handsome as ever.

Sorry to hear it is not returning until next year.

I didn't know it wasn't returning until next year........ and I was SO looking forward to Saturday nights......
Better that I know thanks....

Charlie (Derek Thompson) is 78 and I thought he looked good for his years. Perhaps because I'm getting on in years too.

Ethan looked pale and ill. Perhaps they will be reintroduced with a storyline that Charlie is helping Ethan through his illness as a friend and supporter.

I thought the filming location was already in Cardiff, relocated from Bristol years ago after a huge fire devastated the ED there?

Yes, it was exhausting just watching it, Labradora!

We enjoyed it. Pleased to have something on a Saturday we both wanted to watch. More than a little floored to realise we’ve been watching it for 40 years. Certainly reminded us of the passing of time and got us talking about past tv programmes we had enjoyed.

Didn’t particularly enjoy it, sorry to go against the grain but it was a bit much for me.

Rainwashed Sun 06-Sept-26 18:02:43

Gosh, I didn't realise this series was still on !

EllieAnne Sun 06-Sept-26 18:09:01

Blue bell I’m like you. I prefer episodes about ordinary people.
It would be nice to properly catch up with Charlie and Ethan.
Did we ever find out what caused the explosion?

Aely Sun 06-Sept-26 18:16:29

As it was the 4oth anniversary and such shows tend to be explosive in one way or another, I decided to watch Casualty for the first time in years. I think Charlie was still in it, anyway.

As I was watching it I was thinking, I miss Charlie, so I was delighted when he turned up. I could still see the old Charlie i remember under the beard. He looks in much better nick than I am, and we are the same age! His reference to Duffy brought an instant picture of her into my head.

Can anybody tell me what is the significance of Ethan? Son, friend, significant other? He didn't exist last time I tuned in.

Charleygirl5 Sun 06-Sept-26 18:38:56

I didn't think for a minute Charlie was 78. He is allowed to age, I just didn't like the beard.
