This documentary (4 episodes) is a few years old but I stumbled upon it a few days ago.
If you haven't seen it it's worth a watch.
It documents about 14 years of the lives of girls from rural India who have been denied a basic education because of their caste.
They attended a charitable and progressive boarding school which strives for academic excellence and provides a stable and caring home for them, where they are well loved, well fed and well clothed - the children all come from impoverished backgrounds and many from violent households.
It's a lesson in the norms and culture of rural India which I found shocking and sad in equal measure - but inspirational when you see what they have achieved.
