Bernard Hill has died.

His portrayal of a man in the throws of mental illness because of despair will never leave me.

RIP, Bernard, I always think of Yosser too.

So sad and yes Yosser is how I remember him too. Even sadder that his return to the small screen in Responder is scheduled tonight.

I've never seen Boys from the Blackstuff. I remember him from Lord of the Rings and Wolf Hall. RIP.

Still had it last night as Martin Freeman's horrible Dad in the Responder. RIP

He was the only actor to appear in the only two movies which received 11 Oscars.

They've been repeating Boys from the Blackstuff over the last couple of weeks on BBC4. I didn't realise it was on and just managed to catch two episodes. Last night we watched Yosser's Story. It is still absolutely heartbreaking. Bernard Hill's acting was incredible. We'll find the episodes we missed in catch up.
