Ken Bruce

Ken is the only one left after the recent culls.

I rarely listen to Radio 2 these days. Only Liza Tarbuck really.

I have heard Boom Radio suggested as an alternative.

I struggle to listen to Simon Mayo on Greatest Hits Radio because of the adverts every five minutes.

Oh no! I have just heard this too. He is the only reason I listen to Radio 2 every morning. Can't stand Zoe Ball's babbling, especially first thing, or many of the others, including Jeremy Vine.

I really enjoy Ken Bruce, I wonder if his replacement will keep Pop Master?

I couldn't agree more gransruleok let's face it, he's been called the last grown up on R2. I need to find out what he's doing next as he said he's still going to continue his broadcast career. And yes, I've said before that if/when he left there'll be no more reason to listen to R2 anymore.

Although he has said that it's his decision to move on after 45 years, I don't think that the BBC realise just how popular he is. Goodbye R2.

I think he said that it was entirely his decision and that after 45 years it was time to move on but the end result is the same, isn't it?

Good news about Ken Bruce is that he's announced he's joining Greatest Hits Radio for a lunchtime slot! Simon Mayo is on there and brought his Confessions slot with him, so hoping Ken will still do Popmaster...

Great news that he is going to Greatest Hits Radio.

I just hope that they can reduce the number of adverts.

Can he take Popmaster? Who does it belong to - Radio 2, or Ken Bruce? I hope he can and does take it with him. Not that I get many questions right....

The last bastion gone, I will not be tuning in to Radio 2 any more either. I wish Ken well in his new show but he will be sorely missed.

I see another poster recommended Boom Radio, any other suggestions as I like to listen to the radio as I work around the house.

If I recall rightly, Ken once said that he and a mate thought up the idea for Popmaster (possibly in a pub) so in a sense it's his. I'm off to google the new radio station, perhaps they made him an offer he could not refuse?

I will miss Ken, he’s my favourite - but he is 71, and his show is full on, 5 days a week. He wasn’t booted out by the looks of it, he made the decision himself.
However if you give them a chance and get used to their different styles, some of the other Radio 2 presenters are good too. I also like Sara Cox, Dermot O’Leary, Jamie Cullen, Lisa Tarbuck (although she is definitely round the bend), OJ Borg, Vernon Kay, and Ooo Gary Davies. Tony Blackburn is still there too, going strong.

I will miss Ken Bruce but doubt I will follow him. I do love Pop Master.

The only 'new' presenters I like are OJ Borg and Vernon Kay.

Does anyone know of a good radio station that plays a good mix of oldies and new stuff?

Read a few months ago in The Times when Steve Wright left.. That it was expected Ken Bruce would go as well. They are planning major changes for Radio 2 to attract younger listeners.

No one can replace Ken, but who will get his slot? I think the beeb should ask the listeners.

I'll miss him too, but will still have Radio 2 on during the day as a background. Maybe I'll move back to Radio 4, don't know yet.
I enjoy listening to Dermot O'Leary, Jamie Cullen, Vernon Kaye and Claudia Winkleman but they are all busy with other projects too.

It looks like they move them over from Radio 1 as they get older and the oldies on Radio 2 get the push. I'm another who won't be listening now Ken is going I thought I would when Steve Wright left but I'm sure now
