We really enjoyed it too. I read his Wikipaedia entry he was certainly a very eccentric person. He wrote several books too. I wonder what they were like.

It’s so well acted. I remember following the case with interest. So much was going on in those days, Lord Lucan, John Stonehouse and Jeremy Thorpe.

Yes, they have portrayed him as having a personality disorder, blaming everyone but himself. I'm not sure how true the portrayal is.

Barbara is shown very sympathetically, definitely as the cleverer partner.
I believe she remarried and died earlier this year but her life after she and John divorced was kept very private.

I've enjoyed it. I love Matthew Macfadyen anyway and he made himself so wonderfully pompous. You have to wonder what the secretary ever saw in him. And that dreadful hair! I realise that Philip Green is still wearing the same style so I suppose that says it all.

Stone house's great-nephew said little of the dramatised version was strictly factual and it was, in fact, more fascinating in real life.

Yes, they have given him I think a Narcisstic PD in the film....not unusual in many politicians...still today I think

I don't think it is uniquely politicians, any position of power and authority can have the same result. Interesting question though, what is the motivation?
