BBC 4 Music

We love BBC4 as well and have just switched back having defected to BBC2 for a while to watch Ed Sheeran.

I watched a programme about Kate Bush a few weeks ago.
I'm not a particular fan of hers, but it was so interesting, and she is so talented.

I think we've seen Guitar Heroes before. They repeat things so there's always a chance to catch up. DH is a huge Clapton fan so I was surprised when he agreed to a switch over.

I always check on Friday and Saturday nights to see what's on.

Yes, I've watched a couple of old Top Of The Pops this evening, that I've seen before.
The 80s, unfortunately.
Not my favourite era, musically.

I used to like their Friday evening ones, so nostalgic!
Believe it or not, we don't have a TV now, but can watch some things on the 'puter.
Sky Arts also have some good programmes.

One of the best music documentaries I have seen on BBC4 was about Roy Orbison. He had a beautiful voice but a lot of tragedy in his life. The programme featured his three sons and they clearly adored their father.

Harmonies From Heaven about The Everly Brothers is another one that is regularly shown and so is a documentary about Buddy Holly.

A concert by The Outlaws - Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash is another great programme shown regularly.

I often go to BBCiPlayer and the BBC 4 section to find a music programme to watch when there is nothing else of interest on tv. The Guitar Heroes programme is one I watch regularly and Country Kings At The BBC too.

We regularly record programmes on BBC4 and Sky Arts. Wasn't that group called The Highwaymen*, Jane - fabulous. We also have the Beachboys at Knebworth and a Carol King one - her voice is phenomenal!

There are also some fabulous compilation ones.

On yes Misadventure........Clapton is god. A wondedful, good looking talent, but such a traumatic life. We enjoy BBC 4 music if it features our type of music.. We were spoilt by good musicians in the 60s and 70s generally.

(The other day I came across a superb busker who played Bert Jansch's music beautifully. I had to stop and talk to him. )

Kittylester I think you are right about the name, The Highwaymen is probably right. The programme about Neil Sedaka is also fabulous.

I just watched the programme about David Cassidy, such a sad story. I had no idea he was so troubled. His relationship with his father was so very conflicted and seemed to contribute to his downfall

BBC4 have a programme about Barbra Streisand on Friday at 9 which looks good.

There is a programme on Roxy Music this coming Friday.

Just watched the Barbra Streisand programme on BBC IPlayer it was excellent. What a voice.

I watched the David Cassidy program too Jane43 I agree i5 was very sad. I loved him when I was young and no idea what his life was like . Poor guy.

I was fortunate to see the Highwaymen live with my dad many years ago. One of my most favourite concerts ever. I’ve seen them all separately on other occasions too but to see them together was like a dream come true . I love all the country music they show on BBC 4 if I won the lottery a trip to Nashville would be top of my list !

MissAdventure the Roxy Music programme was on last Friday but you can see it on BBC iPlayer. Bryan Ferry is gorgeous!
