Did any of you watch this over the New Year? I see it was made in 2014, so not exactly new, but it was one of the best films I watched over the weekend. It didn't seem to be advertised on BBC that much ( that had to be unusual for the Beeb these days) but IMHO it was a gem. Maybe a bit dark for those who have been recently bereaved even though it had some comic moments. I know my DDH would have loved the method of 'disposal'. .. ..won't spoil it if you want to watch on Catch-up ! I shed a few tears, but laughed a lot as well. And it featured dear old Billy Connelly, and 3 delightful children in the 'Outnumbered ' acting mode.... the film was made by the same pair of writers. Do watch if you missed it, and have a box of tissues handy.

I'm just off to bed with head cold, and was looking for something to view. This sounds just the job!

Daddima Tue 03-Jan-17 19:35:52

Didn't read your post properly, so didn't realise it was a film rather than a documentary!
I'll still give it a go.

I watched it on catchup last night and really enjoyed it, it had an excellent cast.

I've wanted to watch it since it came out, then forgot about it - think I'll get the dvd.

Love that film. One I'd like to see again butbalways seem to miss is Meet Me in St Louis which I loved when I was small. I was a big Margaret O'Brien fan!

Elrel Tue 03-Jan-17 20:26:12

But always ?

I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it,I thought the 3 children were brilliant the girl who played the eldest child is Emilia Jones the daughter of Aled Jones I think she has a great future in acting.

I've just watched this on catch up, and enjoyed it so much. Weren't the children absolutely marvellous?! As was Billy Connelly, such a terrific character. A film to remember, a real gem.

Loved it, beautiful. Acting from all was terrific, children's roles were so well executed, producers/directors should be so proud.
If anybody missed it I'd recommend catch up.

I saw this lovely film in the cinema and also watched it again just now, as parts of it were filmed where my dad, my mum & I used to go on holiday and it brought back so many happy memories. We'd drive all the way from London to Wester Ross with our tent in a trailer (and this was in the early 1960s, so not much in the way of motorways) just so we could enjoy the heart-stoppingly beautiful scenery and the glorious peace and quiet. But oh how we hated the midges!!

Didn't enjoy the film. I WAS A BIG Margaret O'BRIEN fan!

Badenkate Sun 08-Jan-17 08:38:05

We found it by accident on Netflix last year and both really enjoyed it. Mind you, the big attraction for me was that it has David Tennant in ?

I bought it on DVD last year when it was in the very cheap section, without knowing anything about it. I loved it smile
