I enjoyed the former and would like to see a new series but Hyacinth was a disappointment for me.

Likewise, although I still think it is wrong to try to re-create what was once a success. I do so enjoy QoS and WILTY on a Friday evening though, sets me up for the weekend.

Wilty?

Likewise Ann, in fact I turned Hyacinth off after 5 minutes, Never liked the original much either.

I dislike remakes of once popular programmes , never works in the cinema

I think Goodnight Sweetheart worked because it was just a continuation of the original and just as corny. Still Open All Hours is another example.
Remakes with new casts or prequels never hit the mark.
I too love WILTY, although I read that they sometimes embroider the truth, id never have guessed?

Goodnight sweetheart was good, the only remake that worked. Hyacinth and Alf Garnett failed miserably.
