Has anyone seen it yet? I wasn't sure about it as the original Korda/Sabu version is one of my favourite films of all time. I didn't like it at first, but I warmed to it and the end was very good. However, I think younger children would be quite frightened by it at times..it certainly made me jump a couple of times. Don't think it deserves the 5 star ratings it's been getting though. The boy playing Mowgli is so adorable.

Mowgli was wonderful and I was impressed with the technology that produced such incredible effects that were very realistic. Compared with the original cartoon movie this one is more true to the original story and there is a darker side to it. The animal fights certainly made me jump and I was pleased I had no children with me. Leaving the cinema, I asked one mum who had children with her if they had been alarmed at all, and she replied that she had been more scared than the kids were. They are made of sterner stuff these days maybe.

I've realised that I've never actually read the book. Time to consult Mr Google....

Warner Brothers are also producing a version with Benedict Cumberbatch and Kate Blanchette. Due out in 2018.

I haven't seen this yet but would like to as one of my son's best friends worked on the CGI effects, he's not credited though which is a shame.
