Good TV programmes we miss

Happy Valley-BBC 1 Tuesday 9 o'clock, has been fantastic. Stunning performances by Sarah Lancashire, Siobahn Finneran and Steve Pemberton, have made this a "miss it at your peril" serial. This is brilliantly written and filmed, the best thing on TV for ages. If it does not win awards I for one will be surprised!
Final episode onTuesday, what will be the out come, I cannot wait.

I'm enjoying it too but of course BBC1 must be one of the easiest channels to find. I was really meaning hidden gems on some of the more obscure channels that we don't really think about until some recommends them. My sister keep asking me about old series that I am re-watching like Brush Strokes which I think is on the Drama channel. Also some of the Boxed sets are very good if you missed something the first go round or its a classic for example - be good to get a recommendation.

Not sure that I could recommend it, but I shall be amused to watch channel 4 at 10pm tonight. My Granny the Escort promises to be a real eye opener!

Anyone watching Episodes on BBC2- not as good as the last series but Tamsin Greig (Debbie, Archers) is very watchable and Matt LeBlanc loves sending himself up.

Some great history and art programmes - The Crusades, Georgians , women painters with Amanda Vickery. Fascinating one on Stanley Spencer last night on BBC4 too

I must have watched the programme about women in art at least twice; because each programme is repeated I still have to watch it again because it's so interesting. I'm struggling with the Crusades; lots of interesting facts but the programme hasn't grabbed me in the way that a lot of history programmes do. Am enjoying the Ray Mears series about America [tonight at 9 I think]. Missed half of the Stanley Spencer programme so will have to iplayer it.

Third part of women in art tonight. Good film/documentary on BBC4 [very late/early tomorrow] Searching for Sugar Man. I must admit to watching 'My Granny the Escort' last night .

DH and I both enjoy 'Salvage Hunters ' on Quest. Drew Pritchard,who runs a large architectural salvage company/reclamation in North Wales, scours the country looking for interesting old items .He visits some very interesting country houses to buy things to renovate and sell on.

I have to watch Grand Designs and Homes Under the Hammer when I'm channel hopping under the pretence that it's to help me with my never ending house decluttering.

I like From There to Hear. Was on yesterday on BBC1. Got Philip Glenister in it. I like him.

It's had good reviews jings but annoyingly coincides with the Ray Mears programme. sue; I csn't get into 'Episodes' [but then I did miss the first series]. I was late discovering Green Wing as well which was absolutely brilliant and I wouldn't mind watching it again one day [boxset calls, methinks].

As it's been mentioned in the OP, I must say that The Americans has been a great series.
I've just watched the last two episodes (I fell asleep last night) and they were really good.

I hope they come up with a follow-up series.

Yes, suebailey1, I love Episodes. But my life has been taken over by Breaking Bad which my son downloaded for me. To say it is good is the understatement of the century. It's utterly brilliant.

Tried to have a look at Games of Thrones at my daughters this weekend but GS (aged 10today) came in so had to turn it off - is it very naughty?
