I always enjoyed it. I think anyone who's ever been on a village committee will recognise the characters - and of course there was lovely Peter Egan His wife used to go out with my husband years ago. Although I met her after we were married I never got to meet him.

I liked it first time round, but I think it'll seem very dated now.

I loved the couple who wore matching jumpers

One of my favourite sitcoms of all time. There are certain couples I always think of as Howard and Hilda.

So glad I saw this thread, this was always a must-watch for both hubby and me.

I have every series bar one on BBC DVD's. Loved it.

Great series which hasn't dated really [apart from decor clothes etc.] It's on Sky quite a bit , but I have the dvds on my wish list, so hope someone buys them for me. Harold and Hilda are great aren't they? Paul always 'has a mate' who will provide something free of charge to the neighbours which annoys Martin [ a tour de force by Richard Briars.]We all know somebody a bit Martin like I think!

Howard : "I'm Home"
Hilda : "Who's home?"
Howard : "Our home!"

Thanks, Tegan! That's great news... I used to really enjoy the programme and can find very little I want to watch at the moment.

Ive watched some recently Ana and I didn't think it had dated much. Those sorts of characters are still around.

I've now programmed the series to record, in case I forget to watch it, or have something better to do - how could I?
