External disc drives

I have a problem ! My lap top has died, I have a chrome book and iPad but have so much work stored on discs . Would an external disc drive work with the chrome book? I did phone for advice but all I got was sales talk on buying a new lap top, not ready to do so yet , if only.

An external disc drive should work but if not, you could try putting discs into another computer ( if you can borrow one) and then save to a memory stick. Hope that helps.
