Or, if you don't mind looking slightly odd for a few days, you can kill it off yourself with Bazooka gel. It gradually kills off the top layer of skin so that it peels off. You would have to do it a few times and always keep it covered with sun lotion, or you could make it worse, and never do it in the summer. Now is the best time to do it, because of the lack of sun. I say slightly odd, because you end up with a layer of white on your face for a few days, so need to find a spot cover or good concealer.
A friend told me about it, and I have been using it on my hands. I do have to repeat it every winter, they do seem to come back, so maybe grannyknot's idea is best for you.
