Remember The 1976 Minister for Drought?

It was a guy called Dennis Howell, if I recall, and he was 'promoted' to deal with the Drought Hotline because we were actively encouraged to snitch on our neighbours.

Naturally, he wasn't in the job 5 minutes when the rain began again.

Then he went back to being a humble Minister for Sport.

Will the new PM revive the Minister for Drought appointment?

I have never forgotten his name.

Although I can't remember precisely what form it took, I recall the media making a thing out fact that the first two letters of his surname could be turned into water, H²0.

We were in the Midlands last w/e & it was tinder-dry. No rain since. No significant rain forecast for next week.

I think we should have had a Minister for drought before the summer recess.
Although he can't make it rain but then, Dennis howell seemed to...
