I set it going and it tells me which birds are singing in my garden.
I have chaffinch, great tit, dunnock, jackdaw, wood pigeon, robin .... fascinating ...

Oh and now blue tit, coal tit and garden warbler ... they are taking over!

I'm using Smart Bird ID and loving it, both at home and with my dog when out strolling.
So far, in my bit of Central Scotland over the last two months I have heard or seen:
Eurasian Wren,
Atlantic Puffin!!,
Rock Dove,
Common Raven,
Mallard,
Carrion Crow,
Eurasian Jay,
Collared Dove,
Common Woodpigeon
Goldcrest,
Common Raven,
House Sparrow,
Eurasian Blue Tit,
Great Tit,
Red Kite.

A great habitat it would seem!

I love it too though it does get confused when my hens lay an egg. Merlin thinks they are Canada geese

I downloaded the Merlin bird ID app last week and I love it. I’ve spent the last few days at my son’s house and my grandchildren really enjoyed identifying the birdsong coming from the heavily wooded area behind their house.

That's funny!

I was using the Merlin app in the park while walking my dog. My dog trod on something and squealed out……apparently she was a duck and a pretty rare one!

I used Merlin in my son’s garden in Hants. Within about fifteen minutes it registered thirteen birds including a white egret!

I love Merlin too.

I used it while walking in Arne, an RSPB reserve. So many unusual names came up. I only wish it could make them sit still long enough for me to get a glimpse!

I’ve been using Merlin on my walks it’s so interesting to see so many different birds pop up I’m not sure an Oystercatcher was correct though. I’m not sure if I should add to my life list if I don’t actually see the bird only hearing it. What do you do?

We use it too and love it.

It's amazing, thank you for telling us about it. I had to stop feeding the birds because of rats and this reminds me that they're all still nearby.
