Do you feel lucky?

I am not sure about luck, but I do feel that my family as a whole has been fortunate in many forms.

By that I do not mean that we have not had our tragedies and our disasters, but somehow things usually turn out OK in the end, but I do not know whether that is an in-built resilience or good luck.

How did it happen nanna8? I have always believed in God but I have never had that 'Bam' feeling that I have heard so many Christians say they have had. I feel very lucky to have the family I have, we are all very close and I have a very strong relationship with my adult children, grandchildren and husband.

Yes I too feel grateful that I have a belief in God. Not life changing for me as he has always been part of my life. Not sure that it makes me lucky or any luckier than my non-Christian friends. All of us have dealt with happiness and sadness so whether people have a faith or not does not mean that problems in life do not come our way. God can be a comfort during difficult times but cannot necessarily take our suffering away. That's just the way of the world.

I consider myself and our family to be fortunate in many ways.

I feel I’m quite a spiritual person but not the sense of Christianity r other formal religions.

I’m not sure how to explain really, but at times, even in times of crisis I can still feel hope and an inner peace.

I think anyone born into a civilised country, with good free education and access to healthcare to be fortunate.

I’m not sure I’d consider myself either “lucky” or “unlucky”

Yes! I truly believe this.

not in life as I've had so much loss

but I have been happily married for almost 3 decades (I'm almost 50) and I've had a lovely marriage and even though one our children (now adult) has a severe disability we've all stuck together as a family and made the best out of life and that has always been very important to me

I don't believe in God but I feel blessed with this

Identify as Jewish but am not religious.
Not lucky, not for the past two years anyway, the family have had a dreadful time of it. But I believe luck is random anyway so don’t take it personally especially seeing as the family have enjoyed much better times in the past.
Believe in a God but not a God that only cheer leads a certain religion.

I can’t help but believe although I doubt. When my son was diagnosed with a life limiting illness I swore at God and blasphemed. In so doing I realised that I did actually believe.

I was brought up a Roman Catholic in a mainly Irish community in England, I’m always surprised there wasn’t an Angelus Bell in the street.
Having Irish Catholic parents religion was not an option.

I spent a lot of my childhood petrified of the nuns at school, petrified of committing a mortal sin and convinced I would end up in hell.

As an adult my relationship with God is much better.

I don’t feel it necessary to go to Mass/Church very often and I am happy to go to CofE, RC, CofI, we all have the same God.

I suppose what I am saying is religion was a chore as a child and young adult and I took God for granted.

I think now I am more appreciative and spiritual.

Very true.
Luck is having the opportunity to get out of that situation.
As I did.

We have a few Chinese people in our church who have fairly recently arrived in the country. They are very faithful and very devout - possibly because they have experienced an oppressive regime where they used to live. Similar when we reach out to some of the African nations - they are so grateful and so totally followers of Christ they make me ashamed. They live it every day and are very convicted. Me, I spent years just ignoring it all and thinking it was just an oppressive right wing means of control.

Luck or serendipity?

I don't feel lucky or unlucky as I can't believe in whatever that is but I do have a faith that feels deep and has helped me become wiser . It doesn't stop the pain from whatever hits me in but I wouldn't want to live without it .
