My eight year old DGD started saying six seven and even Silly Billy in the pantomime we took her to kept saying it! Apparently it was started by some American baseball star. She hasn’t said it recently so hopefully it was just a fad, until the next one comes along!

The whole point is that teenage fads are inexplicable to older generations. Don't bother to keep up, there's always a new fad to replace the last.

I remember my Mum getting annoyed with me in the early 60's when everything was Fab. It used to drive her mad.

At least she’s talking to you. My youngest g’dtr barely raises her head from her phone and communicates in grunts.

Have you tried going on YouTube and watching some videos on the subjects that she finds interesting?
I have had to do this recently to try and understand what my grandson is on about.

I was really trying to show that having your "own" thing is important when you are young.
A bit like a trick, a bit like a harmless secret.

I have plenty of things to talk about with teenage grandchildren without about getting involved in teenage subculture, which they do not want you to know about anyway.

I talk clothes and make-up with DGD, and all sorts of random subjects with DGS

My youngest grandchild is 20 now and they are so lovely and human by the age 🤗

Try this? I am not too far removed from teens and still volunteer with them. I simply ask them to explian and they do. But it would be really fun if you knew what she is talking about and you can speak her language back to her.

They do outgrow it, by the way. And most of these are fairly quick trends. 6 -7 lasted a single school year here.
